I guess it was a crude way of joking about the downward trend in religious affiliation and service attendance. Although I'm agnostic, I've got no problem with people practicing any faith of their choice, but do sometimes have an elitist snarky attitude when it comes to religion
Frankly I do have a bad habit of sometimes being elitist, or judgemental, when it comes to religion. Although I do strongly believe in a right to worship as you please, and think a lot of people of faith do a lot of good for the community as do a lot of religious organizations. But I still occasionally take an elitist view/approach to dealing with faith, I'm gonna try and keep that in check. So again, point taken, I'll own that.
