Tulsa 14 Sirens request and Happy Thanksgiving from Canada

For those that know me a little bit here know I work at a refinery on the east coast of Canada. I was not scheduled to go back into work until Wednesday. Well that refinery had a huge upset and explosion today in the very unit and area that I work. Amazingly most workers were on break or going to break at the time and only a couple of people suffered minor injuries. Google image todays events and you will be shocked that no one died. 

This ties into Pearl Jam in one crazy way. i have never listened to the Tulsa 14 boot before but on the way into town for Thanksgiving dinner tonight it was on Channel 22. Evenflow was playing and dragging on and on. My mind was wondering a bit driving thinking about the day and what happened at the refinery. Then Eddie comes on after the song and says this is a request from someone's wife that their husband works at a refinery. That refinery had an explosion and unfortunately resulted in a death. Her husband was not at work that day but the thought of what could have been was with them. I am probably not remembering exactly what was said in this exchange but was shocked at how close that story came to my very own today. Then Sirens comes on. Yes I do not enjoy this song but it now has a new meaning to me. Looking back at what Eddie said with this show and his comments during Fenway II 2016 he is right. Life is too short and can be taken away from you in an instance. Hug whoever is close to you extra tight tonight and happy Canada Thanksgiving.
