Another Pavement and JSBX vote.  I knew you would have them in there if you made a list!
Wowee Zowee is your favorite?  I love it but I cannot top Slanted.

when i bought it in 1995, it took me about a month to understand it.. but it became a must have on long drives. perfect mix of mellow and rocking.

Agree on the time to digest.  2 friends were heads over heels about Slanted and after a while of listening to it with them I fell in love.

JSBX, on the other hand?  First time I heard it I knew I had to hear more!

Blues explosion and Pavement pretty much got me thru the first half of 1997. (ON record and in concert) That was a shitty year for music until OK Computer was released.  I wore out my JSBX tape to the point that you couldn't read the song listings anymore.

Honestly, I dislike the word "influential" in regards to music. I've never listened to an album and thought "Oh wow, this is so influential. I enjoy it so much more now."

I get what you are saying but Nevermind was a game changer. I remember being floored the first time I heard Smells Like Teen Spirit. For what it's worth, I never need to hear that tune again for as long as I live and prefer In Utero.

One reason I hate "influence" in musical discussions (by the way my computer isn't letting me quote, which is why I'm using arrows and responding indirectly) is that it is used in a biased fashion usually - ex: Nirvana is cited as heralding the return of real rock to the radio, but Pearl Jam is often given a lot of undue credit for the existence of bands like Creed, Nickelback etc. So basically critics use influence to their own ends - on one end to celebrate the bands they prefer and on the other to punish bands for the actions of other bands way outside of their control, almost assigning blame to certain artists for unfortunate musical trends. That's another reason I generally dislike the term.
