Yeah I was at both Boston shows in 06 and they played 29 songs night 1, and 30 songs night 2. Maybe those two shows have put me in the mindset that that's the norm for a PJ show. Hopefully though they do those types of sets for MSG and Mansfield, as I'm going to both in each place.492xxx

Pearl_Juli wrote:yes!!! that's what I felt last night during Faithful! That sudden "holy shit!" realization...except that I also kind of cried of happiness, disbelief, and "can't believe I'm finally here" sort of stuff, and it was during Faithful because that's one of my favorite songs and one of the first ones I got into when I was just beginning to get into PJ. It just made me look back on it all and realize the fact that I had finally made it to a show, and I was witnessing that very magical song live, the one I had listened to on Yield and watched on the Live at the Garden dvd a trillion times...I was finally feeling it live myself.
Then again, it was my first show, so meh
I have to admit, when I was in Santa Cruz, I went by myself just to soak it in, Ed played Society near the end, I lost my shit, I was like balling, thinking, this is it, this is what life is about, a bunch of little experiences....it was amazing.Kansas City 1998, Kansas City 2000, EV- Santa Cruz 2008, EV- Berkeley #1 2008, EV- Berkeley #2 2008, Outside Lands 2009, Seattle #2 2009, Portland 2009, LA #3 2009, LA #4 2009, SD 2009, KC 2010, STL 2010, CBUS 2010, Indy 2010, Cle 2010, Buffalo 2010, Boston 2010, Newark 2010, MSG 1 2010, MSG 2 2010, PJ20 1 2011, PJ20 2 2011, Midtown 2012, Worcester 1 2013, Worcester 2 2013, OKC 2013, STL 2014, Tulsa 2014, Lincoln 2014.0 -

I love Small Town. I know it gets a little bit of grief on this board sometimes. If there's a thread about songs people don't want to hear, or songs that are overplayed (although, frankly I haven't heard it at the last seven shows I've been to, but whatever). But I love it.
No. 1 -- It's a great song.
No. 2 -- It's a song that, to me, just says Pearl Jam.
It's like this. You go two or three years between tours, without seeing the band. Then you go to a show, and it's kind of like a family reunion. Ed gets to the scream hello part, and the whole crowd is singing along with their hands in the air, and that is always the moment where I get the warm feeling: "Holy shit, I'm at a Pearl Jam show." I love that moment, and I always get goosebumps, and it never gets old.
I hope they play this song at every show I'm at. It isn't necessarily my favorite song, but it's like an old pair of slippers: It is always comfortable, and it always fits, no matter how long it has been between tours.
This sums it up. Great post.0 -
Awesome first two setlists. Who You Are resurrected, and nice to see Marker, Light Years ... And Oceans/Sometimes as the first two openers? That's killer ... It often takes a dozen or more shows into the tour before either of those shows up.0

I have a feeling I'm going to be purchasing all these shows ... ah well.everybody wants the most they can possibly get
for the least they could possibly do0 -
Got back from the show a little while ago. It's fun to read all the comments after actually having been there.
Two quick thoughts -
Tampa helped redeem the reputation of rock crowds in this area. Great energy and LOUD. The band really enjoyed themselves tonight.
They reallly brought it on Present Tense. They killed the build at the end. Wait till you hear it on the boot - you'll see what I mean.
Might have been on the short side, but it's quality not quantity.
I'll post more on the review page tomorrow.
I'll ride the wave where it takes me...0 -
