Listened to the vinyl last night. I'm not thrilled with the production, I'm guessing it's supposed to sound "distorted" but it impacts the listen for me. The songs were enjoyable on the first listen, closer to MMJ with more straight forward rock than his previous solo albums. I'll have to get used to it but I did enjoy it for sure.

  • Loving the album. Listened about 4-5 spins so far and stand outs are Just a Fool, Out of Time, Throwback, No Secrets, No Use in Waiting (which is John Lennon inspired no doubt) and Over and Over. Great album

Has anyone seen him yet on his current solo tour? I'm going on Sunday in Philly, wondering how his set has been. I'm trying to avoid looking at the setlists so far.

He's playing pretty much the same sets each night.  17-18 songs. Usually playing all of Uniform Distortion (minus a couple songs.....although he did play the whole album in Houston).  A couple MMJ songs and a couple covers mixed in, and then the rest from Eternally Even and Regions.

His show in Portland was once again moved from the State Theater (1800 capacity) to Port City Music Hall (capacity about 500).  He just doesn't seem to sell well here. It is a Monday night.  I was going to pass on the State Theater, but I might just go to PCMH.  Hard to pass up being so close.

Does MMJ even sell that well? How big are they capacity wise in the states?

Last couple times they've come through Boston on a regular tour: sold out a 2,500 capacity theater for 2 nights and previously close-if-not-completely-sold-out a 3,500 capacity pavilion.

They routinely sell out shows at Forest Hills Stadium (14K) & Red Rocks (9.5K)...
and pretty much fill up our 5200 capacity outdoor venue in Columbus every time they play there.

Went to both houston shows.  Shows were very similar.   He played one mmj song per night (one night was Bermuda HWy and one night was I’m amazed).  He played uniform distortion, 4-5 off eternally even, 2-3 off regions of light.  He changed up the order of the songs and switched 2-3 total songs.  One night he played of the mother again with opening band’s singer.  Night two he didn’t.

I was hoping he would play some of his solo covers and songs from side projects like new basement tapes or new multitudes.  That said, they were great shows.  I’d suggest going.   It was very different sounding than his last solo tour.  Last tour I recall he had 2 keyboards.  This tour none.  Very cool seeing him up close.  For houston, he played a pretty small venue.  One night was sold out and the other night was 95% full.

Side note.  His drummer looks like Patrick and his guitarist looks like Carl.

I'm already going to the show. Might want to lower the price (although I know you are trying to get your money back). I actually only paid $20 for the show through the livenation thing they did a few weeks ago.  Maybe try stubhub, ebay or craigslist if you want that much?

I didn’t realize they were going for so cheap. I obviously want to give a better deal here than anywhere else so lowering price to $50 for the pair. Thanks eerie
