Would you be proud?

Would you be proud and stand by everything you’ve said in this forum if it was made public and all your words and reply’s were posted on your MySpace or Facebook?  I excluded twitter because from what I understand how it works is you can just say things and hope someone repeats them.  Nothing personal about twitter.

If they were shown in isolation, not always. If they were shown with context (ie the conversations and not just my own words), yes.

I agree with this. Although there would still be some gems that I’m sure I wish I didn’t write. But overall, in context, I’d be fine with it

Roseanne is a moron twenty times over, she deserves what she gets.
If this were one of the first 4-5 times she had done something stupid like this I think people might be more understanding.

You seemed to have started two threads - one about accountability and what you perceive as an attack on freedom of speech, the other about an anecdote you're using to make a point. These are birds of a feather. People bear the social cost of the words they say - that's why bullies get called pricks and get ostracized or removed from their social and (often workplace) communities. Get over it. THIS IS NOT NEW. In kindergarten, the mean kids rarely had friends as a result of them being mean kids.

I think this thread is pretty self explanatory, kind of stands on its own.  But if you want to bring baggage in from other places that’s on you.

Thought that was obvious. The one we're engaged in conversation on right now (Roseanne).

Well, I didn’t start that thread, I just commented on it.  I did start this one though.  You are more than welcome to answer this thread though and leave other conversations be were they are at.

No problem at all. I've never said anything racist, threatening or normalized abhorrent behavior and actions. Swearing and expressing disgust over societal acceptance of guns at all costs, violence and a sex assaulter as POTUS are not things I'm worried about being judged on because I say the same thing in person to people I know. Too many people use social media to portray themselves as something they are not and when they slip up the reckoning comes hard.

Everything I've said?  No.  But when I've been shown to be wrong, I've not been afraid to say, "Yes, I was wrong", and when I've been an asshole I've not been afraid to say, "Yes, I was an asshole.  I apologize."

proud probably not. i'm sure there are a few things i wouldn't be proud to have written.  stand by what I said?  mostly. I mean over a period of years opinions can change so I can't say i'd stand by all things i might have said 7 or 8 years ago.
