I do read through these threads when I have the time. But I just can’t keep up with some threads lol. I dont check amt for two days and the Donald Trump thread has 300 new posts! When I get more free time I hope to become a more active participant in these discussions.

Its a simple observational question.  And it’s been proven that for the majority, those that have earned a college degree, or have been gone to college are more apt to taking on a wider view and balance ideas they agree with and disagree with and can make more informed opinions.  They aren’t the “Fox News” of the right or the anything liberal the can find to read in the “left”.  They are more centered and balanced with their ideas of the world.  It’s just a developmental fact of humans.

but I will say this, before you attack someone on their “faux news” here, have a common ground and try to understand where each and every one of us is coming from.  You idea is what you think is best for you, and so as the same for another persons.  We all don’t walk in the same shoes..

Being well read and traveled is worth more than any college education could teach you.

Of course, some people do both.

What either one is "worth" I guess is in the eye of the beholder.  My undergraduate degree rounded me and sharpened my communication skills. While I avoid the trap of "educated = smart" because that's not true, I will say that my non-college friends could not do the jobs I've done...not because of intelligence, but because of the skill-set it provided me.  Actually though, my liberal arts education would have made it tricky for me to advance.  Job-wise, I'd have been better off in trade school, thought that's just not "me."  So my masters (Urban and Regional Planning) helped make me employable.  I've traveled most of the US and been to a few foreign countries and am glad I have.  But the benefits really are apples-and-oranges.  As for being well-read, I admit I should be better-read...again, valuable but still a bit apples-and-oranges.

One of the problems with this topic and this thread is it's so open to bragging and, in turn, defensiveness.  As long as one has through through his/her options, his/her post-high school path is the correct one...for them and that's what matters.

For me, "being well read and traveled is worth more than any college education could teach you" is simply not true.  And I would not want that to be true of my doctor or dentist either.  But in general, I don't think we need to have pissing contests between all of these options.

Depends on the person. I've known many extremely well-travelled and well-read morons. I've also known plenty of extremely highly educated morons. And I've met super intelligent people from both slots too. And people who are well-educated and well-travelled, who are also either morons or not.
I think putting education and life experience up against each other makes no sense whatsoever. What I think the only "right answer" here is that a person with more education and/or life experience is likely to have a leg up on those who have none of either.
