Supreme Court Allows for Sports Gambling Nationwide

well it's about time.  No reason this hasn't been legal throughout the country.  The law was not stopping people from doing it at all.  That's my take. what do you all think?

Guess they were tired of all the money being spent on illegal gambling and decided to finally take their piece of the pie.

It won't get rid of illegal gambling, far from it.

Why am I going to go to a legal place out of my way when I can head to my local watering hole and just fill out a ticket?

I never said it would get rid of illegal gambling, just that the federal and state governments will want their cuts now.

I hope IL gets their cut. It’s a broke, dysfunctional state that could use another revenue source any way possible.

Exactly the reason that illegal gambling will remain king.

Don't forget that the leagues are going to want a piece too!

    Come on online poker!
This would be big. My brother plays online professionally and has lived in Mexico for the last 6 years or so because he could no longer play in the U.S.

Doesn't New Jersey have online Poker Betting? If so, then he should move to NJ. Though, not sure why anyone wants to live in NJ, except to gamble?

Agree, but i also think another reason illegal gambling will still be rampant, is that you bet with a Bookey on credit, unlike legal gambling.

About time is right. I would've thought this would've happen decades ago.

I think the supreme court had NO choice but to vote the way they did. I'm surprised that it was a 6-3 vote and not a 9-0, though it doesn't matter since it passed.

yes but I believe you can only play against other people in New Jersey.

I would think that this sports betting ruling would eventually lead to poker being legal as well.  can't see how it wouldn't be.

the interesting question about this sports gambling ruling is will states allow sports gambling over the internet or just keep it in casinos?

Yeah, great. I can't believe it took so long. Legal gambling is a GREAT way to fund public projects and whatnot. Sure, there are things to be careful about - namely gambling addictions/debt and laundering via gambling outfits. But all in all, legalized gambling is financially beneficial for state revenue....... That said, I think it's pure bullshit that gambling winnings are taxed in the USA .... Is there any talk about ending that kind of legal robbery? Is that always a state law or a federal thing?

Cool that it passed, but it'll be a long time before my state legalizes it.

I like playing poker online when there is no risk, lol. I don't like using real money. This is off-topic, sorry, but does anyone know of a good poker app that is free with phony money? I used to play with one, but they actually switched to real money after a couple years.
