Got my tickets for tomorrow night! Reviews are looking real solid as of right now, 86% on Rotten Tomatoes, not one of the MCUs absolute best but still really high. Plus you know some critics were just chomping at the bit to give this a thumbs down with all of the characters in it.
This is so true. If you are seeing critics complain about character development they have missed the point. This is the culmination of ten years of character development throughout a series of films. Which isn't to say the movie cannot have flaws but that one in particular doesn't hold water.
Soooooo.....someone like me who has watched maybe 2 or 3 of these movies over the years will be able to follow or is this for straight up hardcore fans.
Which 2 or 3? I would recommend Avengers 1, Captain America: Civil War and Guardians of the Galaxy. If you can follow those I would imagine you'll be able to follow this.
Saw a few Iron Mans and the first Thor movie.  I watched Civil War with my son and literally had no clue what was going on.....

The main critical complaints right now are just that there is too much going on and that it feels too much like part 1 and not enough like it’s own thing.
yeah i have a feeling it's gonna be like Age of Ultron where too much is going on.  Heard Infinity War is like 2 1/2 hours.

My audience applauded multiple times throughout but at the end there was stunned silence. There are many parts of this movie I loved and a few I need to process. Glad I'm seeing it again on Sunday. Thanos was awesome. Josh Brolin was great and the CGI was incredible. If you haven't been following the MCU this is not the movie for you, but if you have then you will smile a lot during this one. What an accomplishment for Kevin Feige, the Russo Brothers and all of Marvel Films. A movie like this could not be made without the groundwork they laid over these last ten years.

Saw a 7:30 showing this morning, Wow!  I need to process most of it.  Not what i was expecting (in a good way though).  I laughed, cried, jumped (once).

The next 2 movies - Ant Man & The Wasp, and Captain Marvel - are confirmed as being set before Infinity War, so they are set up to be included in Avengers 4 next May.
Ant Man is set just after Civil War, and Captain Marvel is set in the 90s (when Fury had still 2 eyes according to set photos)

All I could say after seeing it was "holy shit".

Could not believe it ended the way it did.

These movies will never get Oscar consideration, but I doubt I'll see anything better this year.

    This weekend we rock Portland

The Russo Brothers are 3 for 3 with The Winter Soldier, Civil War and now Infinity War. Three of the best.

We saw Infinity War yesterday and absolutely loved it. My wife and I can always tell how good a movie is by how long we talk about it on the drive home... we were still bringing it up late into the night! "What about this? I can't believe ___ happened to ___. Where did ___end up?"
Expectations will be crazy high for Avengers 4, and depending on how that movie plays out it could make the events of Infinity War even greater.

That's an interesting take on it. I may have a go at ranking them, although there may be a few ties!
I'm pretty sure it'll be between IM2 and Thor:TDW for last place though

    Saw Infinity War Today:

I thought they pulled off making a movie with this massive leading cast smooth mindblowingly well.

It was kind of a weird and unexpected result, but it is kind of a good unexpected, not a Rian Johnson with Star Wars "fuck you" type of unexpected.

Also, the flaws in the character decision making didn't seem to make the film bad, but make it better. After contemplating them, I just felt frustrated for the characters, and not mad at the writers.

I think it was an amazing film, and was certainly entertaining and a great emotional journey, I walked out kind of speechless and dumbfounded by the whole thing.

Also, if you love sticking around for some classic Marvel post credits stuff, this didn't disappoint.

How much longer before we can actually discuss this movie with some spoilers?

Saw it yesterday and it was AWESOME!!!!!

Make sure you stay until the credits are done as this is a staple in any Marvel movie now.

Much like with Pearl Jam albums these rankings are subject to change and almost certainly will. Infinity War is likely to climb on repeat viewings. Guardians 1 and Ragnarok are essentially tied. The Top 11 are my favorites, the next 6 are OK, and the only two I really don't like (The Dark World, Iron Man 3) are bringing up the rear.

    1. Captain America: Civil War

    2. Avengers

    3. Captain America: The Winter Soldier

    4. Avengers: Infinity War

    5. Guardians of the Galaxy

    6. Thor: Ragnarok

    7. Captain America: The First Avenger

    8. Black Panther

    9. Iron Man

    10. Spiderman: Homecoming

    11. Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2

    12. Thor

    13. Avengers: Age of Ultron

    14. Ant-Man

    15. The Incredible Hulk

    16. Doctor Strange

    17. Iron Man 2

    18. Iron Man 3

    19. Thor: The Dark World

    OK Spoiler alert!!!

So I was wondering where the hell Silver Surfer was because in the comics he played a big part in it, it was actually the surfer who fell through Dr Stranges house and not the Hulk in the comic.  I read that SS is owned by Fox studios.  Now with the merger that went through with Disney and Fox, I am wondering if he makes an appearance in Infinity pt 2?

    How great would that be?

I was also thinking how the Scarlet witch had to watch the Vision die twice...  That's messed up.
  • JimmyVJimmyV Boston's MetroWest Posts: 18,810
I think once the Disney/Fox merger is complete we'll get a post credit scene somewhere that reveals Galactus. I think they will save the Silver Surfer for that story.

Infinity War 2 had already been filmed prior to the Fox deal being announced.  It should be going into post production soon. I don't think we will get the Fantastic Four, Surfer, and their universe until phase four at some point.  With the deal not being finalized until next year sometime, I don't think they can legally even mention them yet. And if the Kree/Skrull war is what will be the next overarching theme, it would be a good way to introduce them.  It will be a lot easier to get them in than it will be the X-Men universe.

$258 million! I thought it would be years before anything topped The Force Awakens opening weekend.

Somewhere Jeremy Renner is mumbling to himself, "Hawkeye could've pushed it over $260."

A cool (but pretty dark) way to bring Hawkeye back into it would be if his his family were affected by Thanos’ finger snap. He’s gone into hiding to protect them, if they’re not around then he’ll be out for vengeance.

i haven't watched the bottom 4 in forever.  And i only saw Ant-Man recently (it was on tv sometime last year).  I should at least re-watch Iron man 2 and Thor: Dark World again i guess.
