2018 NFL Draft

The timing of it was shady. Not sure why you don't see it that way? It was information that was out there but decided to put it out there hours before the draft and it was used as a ploy to get other teams to pass on him. S H A D Y.Cliffy6745 said:
Then take that into consideration. I definitely would have said stupid shit if Twitter was around back then, but I also would understand if I was called on it by an employer or someone.HesCalledDyer said:Is this like that Villanova player that made dumb tweets as a high school freshman but just got called out on them after March Madness?
If so, then I'm with Chris. Shady. Kids say/do stupid shit when they're teenagers.
Absolutely nothing shady about it. HE SAID IT IN A PUBLIC SETTING.
Edit: We look at people's social media before making hiring decisions at times. What's the difference?
From what I'm hearing is that they are mostly music and movie quotes though.
I do agree if that Twitter was around when I was in HS I'd have done stupid shit too, lol!0 -
Shady to you means strategic to me. Some party is being strategic with public information that they had at their disposal.tempo_n_groove said:

I also review social media when scanning candidates for employment. You would be foolish and lazy not to, imo.The love he receives is the love that is saved0

Technically Allen released this information. Anyone that hadn't already looked this up isn't doing their job. All the teams knew about this shit already.Alright, alright, alright!

It does sound like this is old news. His Twitter was scrubbed in January0 -

Unless they trade down, I don't see the Bears taking Ridley that high at 8. I'm hoping they get Nelson from ND. That guy is an animal.KC138045 said:Who are you hopping your team picks? What are some of your predictions? General draft discussion
I want the Bears to draft Calvin Ridley and I think Barkley is going to be a bust. Rumor is Browns are taking Mayfield at #1 which I think is a huge mistake.0 -
Lots of Barkley talk here...
Having watched this guy in college quite a bit, I do believe if he stays healthy, he will be a top 3 RB in the league for many years. He can do it all. I don't know how well he blocks, but everything else he is star.0 -
The Browns knew Manziel was a mess but hey, they still drafted him...JK_Livin said:Technically Allen released this information. Anyone that hadn't already looked this up isn't doing their job. All the teams knew about this shit already.0 -
from what I've heard he's a good blockermca47 said:Lots of Barkley talk here...

I think there's a fine line. Maybe if you've narrowed it down to the two or three finalists for the job and you review them, but I think looking at social media for every applicant is a bit intrusive. Unless that person is going to be a public face for your company (salesperson, public speaker, liaison, etc) I really don't see how what they say or do or post on social media has any relevance on how well they can perform a job (in general. Specific situations may warrant it). I mean, we didn't go around screening people's phone calls or hang out at arcades and bingo night in the 80s to determine whether we'd hire someone, why peek into their personal life now? I'm a complete fucking mess of a person from Thursday at 530pm thru Sunday night. If my company knew the shenanigans I got into in my private, personal time away from work, I'd be Unemployable. Furthermore, unless there is a severe pattern of terrible behaviour on display, I'd hope employers wouldn't take things said 4-5-8 years ago from an immature teenager too seriously.F Me In The Brain said:I also review social media when scanning candidates for employment. If I was a top prospect I would just be praying not to get picked #1 or #4!
The Browns have a remarkable talent for squandering talent.
They don't know how to win and a rookie isn't going to teach them. I think they should trade both for a veteran quarterback, but Cleveland would probably burn to the ground.Monkey Driven, Call this Living?0 -
I am VP of Sales, so yes....salesperson. I look at everyone I consider.HesCalledDyer said:

We also do a background check and a credit check. (We, of course, only do this for serious candidates - and they know and approve of this before we do it.) Finalists also get a DISC analysis. (A type of personality test)
Culture is King these days....and you cannot look closely enough at a person and analyze what type of person you want to bring into your family and invest in. Who walks out that door representing us is who we are. (And the group of people we sell to is far too small to have someone damage our company name.)
No way an NFL team doesnt do a very deep dive on every person they consider drafting.
