    As is their right under the law. Good luck with it though as the Deerfield ordinance was modeled on another town’s similar ordinance and the Supreme Court has ruled that firearms can be regulated. We’ll see how it plays out in the courts.

    The case could be that a locality cannot make gun control laws,  only the state.  I Don't know Illinois statute.  But the SCOTUS has clearly ruled that gun control measures may be passed,  but that full weapons ban cannot (Heller).

    Plus, it's well established in America that public safety comes before individual rights anyhow, so it's pretty much a moot point IMO. When it's about increasing safety/the right of people to be safe, nobody owes 2nd amendment freaks anything.
