We're people this critical of weird shit like Happy When I'm Crying? It's still the fan club single, maybe just treat it like that? It's better than a whole lot of those have been in the past.
probably not. we weren't starved for content like we are now. we had them writing the new record (Vitalogy) and performing unreleased songs on tour for a newly released album (Vs). hard to compare those times to now I think.

Probably "public" release of the track. 10c got an early taste. Can't imagine anything more than that.

Some people in the Facebook comments saying it’s an album drop and Cant Deny Me is the name of it...

    lol

I am curious what that means though

Ugh...you're probably right.  But I'm holding out hope for an album announcement.

You're right. If they were releasing more random shit, and touring way more like they used to and pulling out improvs and shit all the time or whatever, we wouldn't be obsessing over one original annual single like this. It's just that now that they aren't very active in terms of touring or new music, we have too much attention built up focusing on too little material, lol. The only cure would be for everyone to tone down their fandom, haha.... or for the band to produce and tour way more! ;)

I'm inclined to agree with this.  I've never written a song or know how writing credits actually work, but I would assume if a sole band member is credited as the songwriter, he probably came up with the main rhythm and/or melody then the intricacies were worked out amongst the others.
In my band, whoever is on the recording gets songwriting credit when we're putting the stuff up on CD Baby. There's generally 3 of us on most of the songs, and whoever had the original idea gets that much sought after 34% instead of the 33% that the other 2 get. I generally write all of the lyrics, but even on the songs where one of the other guys came up with the original idea for the music, I still just take 33% regardless of lyrics. So I know we don't operate on the same level as Pearl Jam, or anything near it, but it just seems fair for us to stick together.

Sounds like a slowed down version of Big Wave.  I like it!
Up here so high I start to shake, Up here so high the sky I scrape, I've no fear but for falling down, So look out below I am falling now, Falling down,...not staying down, Could’ve held me up, rather tear me down, Drown in the river

It just premiered on my local rock station.
  • Radio stations playing this song should be a signal to PJ that people are craving new music from them. Unless....this is part of something else.

People seem to be unable to just enjoy this thing for what it is, a new song by the band that we all love. Let's just wait and see what they do next.

I usually play the music on my phone playlist on 'random' so I don't know what's coming next. Can't Deny Me sounds pretty good when you're not expecting it.
