The evil AR15 is what, about under 1%, of the amount of annual deaths by comparison?
I'm taking a not wild guess to say that he outspends the NRA when it comes to buying people.
Here is the link so nobody has to look this one up either.

 a) who gives a shit what bloomburg pumps his money into?
 b) what does that have to do with anything? this is nothing but another deflection. "hey, I don't want you to look at this problem, so let's bring up another problem that i can dangle in front of them and hopefully they bite that carrot and leave mine alone".Your boos mean nothing to me, for I have seen what makes you cheer0

Illegal? How so?unsung said:11 kids die a day from texting while driving.
Anyone know when that illegal walkout is scheduled?
Nd nice deflection... cause of course you can be concerned about more than 1 thing at once.hippiemom = goodness0

Illegal because it is against the law for children to be out of school. They can get a ticket for it and appear in court. Many schools and districts are granting permission for this walkout to avoid any legal consequences, and I think it would be sort of low to ticket anyone for truancy in this protest, but I think that is what he means by illegal.
A local cop said he hopes schools do enforce truancy rules, as sometimes these kids unintentionally cause problems. I think this particular cop was seriously injured in a traffic accident caused by a car avoiding protesting kids. So he's a little bitter about kids walking through streets to protest, I probably would be too.
Working in education I can say from my experience maybe about 90% of the kids who do walkouts (for any reason) just want to join the crowd and leave school, only very few truly care about the cause. Which sucks because it overshadows those who do care.Post edited by mace1229 on0

I was going to reply with your last paragraph. It really is unfortunate, but par for the course when dealing with such a wide range of maturity levels.mace1229 said:Illegal because it is against the law for children to be out of school. yeah, because a walkout on a day when the organization you are walking out from is closed makes a whole lot of sense.unsung said:And that reinforces my point, if the issue is so important then they should not have a problem with doing it on a Saturday. While I don't think a ban of cell phones under 21 is the solution, I agree with you that our efforts to reduce unnatural deaths from any cause should be proportional to the scope of impact we observe today from that cause. Note that I said "scope of impact" and not "rate of fatality" - there is impact beyond a death that metrics can't adequately convey (fools figure and figures fool).unsung said:Ban cell phones for those under 21. The reason that deaths from gun violence are given such energy is because of the traumatizing nature, and the way they strip people of their faith in humanity (something very hard to get back). I passed a motorcycle accident the other day. A guy was speeding late at night, missed a weave in the road, and flew into a tree and died. That stripped me of my faith in that person, but not in humanity. I can't say the same for the ongoing shootings.'05 - TO, '06 - TO 1, '08 - NYC 1 & 2, '09 - TO, Chi 1 & 2, '10 - Buffalo, NYC 1 & 2, '11 - TO 1 & 2, Hamilton, '13 - Buffalo, Brooklyn 1 & 2, '15 - Global Citizen, '16 - TO 1 & 2, Chi 2

ok, so putting this in perspective, if you think that if school shootings are so rare that nothing should be done about gun control, then why is fear of terrorists fuelling policy on immigration (muslim ban), when being killed by a terrorist is exponentially lower than what Republicans would have you believe?unsung said:Your boos mean nothing to me, for I have seen what makes you cheer0

the initial immigration clusterfuck was the muslim ban, which was based on nothing other than fear, and not even based in fact (since so many other countries not on the ban were known terrorist hubs), that those countries' citizens brought terrorists to the US.unsung said:
