my2hands said:And I stand by my statement... arming teachers is the dumbest idea ive ever heard in my entire life... it's flat out lunacy... but what do I expect from a shithole country that cast 60,000,000+ votes for Donald F'n Trump
These answers are all short-sighted... we need to take a 50-100 year look at this, simply because America is littered with hundreds of millions of guns as mentioned... even if all guns were banned t mw we would still gave lots of issues in the coming years... take action now so maybe your grandchildren will live in a better place, because your kids are fucked
And yeah, I returned because even though I may argue with some of you dickheads, I still consider this place a home after so many years and many of you guys my friends. And I appreciate the passion here even when I disagree with you.0 -

Bottom line 800 arrest warrants were issued. The WHITE Mayor warned people that had warrants issued. Over 500 warrants were not executed because of this WHITE Mayor.

Found this article and found it very fascinating. I've been one of those people saying we need to keep guns out of mentally ill, but have also thought, they're probably not the main cause of mass shootings. According to this, they're not. It's people who have been bullied, or picked on or feel like everything is against them. It also talks about how the media shouldn't give the perpetrators any attention, since many people that commit these crimes want to mimic those and outdo those before them. I also noticed the article never mentions any shooter by name so good to see they followed their own advice.
It's somewhat long, but a good read and encourage everyone to read it. (it should open as a PDF)

Yes, the issue of mental illness and violence, particularly gun violence, is a complex one. The media tends to talk about "mental illness" like it is a unitary phenomenon, but that term encompasses a whole host of different conditions and situations, most of which have little to no bearing on whether that person will be violent.
Even though I'm in favour of pretty strict gun control, I can't say I'm in favour of gun restrictions based solely on some nebulous definition of "mental illness", because it will exclude a huge number of people who aren't likely to be violent without catching those that are. What's needed is a valid assessment of risk looking at features actually linked to violence, which includes some elements of mental illness but also many other factors, for everyone acquiring a firearm. This is possible, but I don't see it ever happening.my small self... like a book amongst the many on a shelf0 -
Gunman Opens Fire, Holds Hostages At Yountville Veterans Home
This is an outrage, our veterans' homes are soft targets! There needs to be armed guards at every single one of them!
They could hire retired veterans to......oh wait.....0 -
Armed guards on every street corner lol.
If the schools with armed teachers and seals are impenetrable... then psychos will go to a senior centre or daycare. With assault rifles no less.
Just goofy. Even the most ardent second amendment supporter must be questioning the logic behind trying to maintain the status quo and ensuring public safety.

The National Rifle Association has reportedly filed a lawsuit over Florida gun legislation that was signed into law Friday, according to the Associated Press.
Florida lawmakers passed a bill this week that raises the minimum age for purchasing firearms from 18 to 21, and implements a three-day waiting period for purchase of most long guns. The bill came just weeks after the shooting that left 17 dead and more than a dozen injured at a South Florida high school.
Florida GOP Gov. Rick Scott signed the bill into law on Friday in a sharp break from the NRA.
The new law also creates new mental health programs for schools, and allows some trained school personnel to carry concealed handguns on school campuses.
The NRA harshly criticized the bill after Scott signed it, saying the new measure "punishes law-abiding gun owners for the criminal acts of a deranged individual."
