Double Album?!

I will just state this, besides everything the man accomplished and influenced, if he only focused on wanting to be the best guitarist other then Jimi he could've been! Although he could care less about being a rock Guitar God I would still have him in my top 10!lolobugg said:vito said:
Not even going to debate Prince vs the Pumpkins cause one of the artists doesn't belong in the same sentence as the other and I've see Prince 6x's and the Pumpkins 5x's!lolobugg said:vito said:
No, I didn't forget that and it's as fabulous as the other doubles I mentioned but, I just don't think the Pumpkins belong with any of those other artists I mentioned and I'm a big fan. The last 20 years unfortunately prevented the SP from being an iconoclastic band like those above!lolobugg said:for a Chicago resident, you forgot "Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness"!!!!!!!!
Well you included Prince.... but that's a whole another topic.
strangely I have been having this debate with a friend since 2000.
no one will give an inch. I also pissed off a whole FB group talking about Prince a few years back.

I'm sad to say I feel like double albums are for bands in their prime, or about to hit the downward spiral and a double album is that last ditch at really pushing boundaries.
At least I feel it was for modern day double albums, foo fighters and pumpkins .
I don't think PJ have it in them. Not anything strong I mean. Sure they could knock out a decent 20 track album. But they'd probably not even touch it on tour, then be gone by following tour .George, US (September 01, 2005)

Id love to see it happen. I don't really think that it will though. It would require a dramatic change in their studio habits in recent years. On the other hand one thing that makes it a possibility is that they haven't released a b-side since riot act. Who knows maybe a double album where one side is more straight up rock and the other an experimental side.

And while their at it let's just really climb Everest and make it a concept double album that tells a fascinating story and has 75 minutes of mind-numbing music, this Colorado pot is damn good...lolSomethingCreative said:Id love to see it happen. if they do do it, I wouldn't mind like an "In Your Honor" Foo Fighters thing. Half rock/half acoustic.

They could easily issue a double album if Matt and Jeff didn't release solo albums
Imagine PJ recording some of Matt's stuff...not saying it isn't awesome the way Matt did it...just saying imagine that if Matt saved those ideas for PJ and they ended up on an album and we could see them performed liveRemember the Thomas Nine !! (10/02/2018)

With the way this community consumes any & all vinyl releases they put out, I wouldn't be so sure of that!CROJAM95 said:double the songs for people to steal online

Not to mention they are fast approaching 5 million boots sold at around $13.00 each (All formats divided up) and they've made approximately $65 million over the last 18 years which, they share with no record label or company!Red Mosqito said:

I would rather see an attempt at a decent EP at this point (sorry, but Lightning Bolt was just bad - maybe two or three songs were decent).0
