if everyone just carried a gun, this sort of thing would never happen.

    This. Yesss!

Little shitbird walks into school... goes to pull his AR15 out to kill all the kids... and the custodian, foods teacher, and hall monitor quickly pull their 9mms out and make Swiss cheese out of him.

    Problem solved.
Then nobody knows who original shooter is and everybody starts shooting.  Everybody dies.  May the best shooter or hider win!

    Dammit.

(You know both of us were clowning around right? The old 'if everyone had a gun' argument is the stoopidest argument in any debate I have ever heard).

Of the 30 deadliest shootings in the US dating back to 1949, 19 have occurred in the last 10 years, and the latest happened this week.

Get used to it folks, if you’re not already, because it happens about every 2 1/2 to 3 weeks. More if you count the ones that don’t really register.

Fuck anyone who justifies the ownership of an AR15. They're the most useless creation that kill more people than any other rifle available to the public.

THIS!!!  There is NO reason for a civilian to own this kind of gun.

    Then who should?

Republicans have so much blood on their hands.  They are spineless, greedy, hypocrites.   Do something!!!!  It may not stop every shooting but at least do something!!!

What more will it take for guns to be banned in the US?
    So many mass shootings already.
I'd hate to be a student there, I'd be anxious as hell wondering if my school would be next.

I try very hard to not be a 1 issue voter.....but it's hard with crap like this.
There are lots of serious issues to tackle (climate change, Better tax reform ;), Immigration, etc)...but I'm leaning towards this being the biggest issue for me for the past I don't know how many years.

It's pretty disgusting to watch Fox cover this and work so hard to avoid mention of the firearm at all.
Talking about warning signs (for which they won't allow any action of course) and security failures, mental health and everything under the sun except for details about the firearm used, how it was acquired, or what they would do to prevent this obviously troubled teen from having access to a mass casualty weapon.

Deployed military troops only, police shouldn't have them either.

Children will continue to die because Republicans are afraid that they will lose their seat if they 'do something'.

To be fair to the gun nutters, we do collectively freak the fuck out on them when they enter this thread directly after a tragedy.

Shockingly, the president’s tweet mirrors this thinking.

What. Weak and ineffective president we have. Doesn’t even talk to the country when something like this happens.

You know mental illness is certainly PART of the problem and part of the solution here.  But I'm tired of gun nuts that use it as a freakin excuse to do nothing about the other parts of the problem!

I feel like the liberals got worked on this issue.  They finally got people talking mental health so they went with it and now the Pro-anygunIwant crowd is using it an argument FOR their side of the discussion.  Sickens me.

On the topic of putting her back in her jar, how does a country successfully collect all guns, including those of traceable and legally obtained firearms, and untraceable and illegally obtained firearms? To play devil’s advocate, I could see an argument being made that this would likely result in civilians surrendering their firearms and those with nefarious intent not, leaving only armed criminals.
