Hell, I nearly booed the last time I saw him sing Last Kiss to the back, AGAIN. But I was too mature to actually do it.
I'm certainly not about to just change my principles or core beliefs or abandon common sense to match Eddie's views and I don't know anyone who would. You're right, that theory is absolutely moronic.

But seriously, RYME, most people applaud what Vedder says because they agree with him.  I don't go along with the idea that the average Pearl Jam fan agrees with what Eddie Vedder says because he is Eddie Vedder.  I think most people agree with what he says because it reflects their own feelings.  Most Pearl Jam fans really did not like Bush.  Most Pearl Jam fans really do not like endless war. Most Pearl Jam fans really do want to end pollution and the destruction of the planet.  Etc. 

Pearl Jam fans are generally more politically, socially and environmentally concerned than fans of some other bands I won't name (there's no need to, that is not the point).  I think you make too great a sweeping generalization inferring PJ fans are a bunch of sheep.  I don't even know why you would do that.

I'm not here insulting you all good God. I've heard him say some things weren't even political or terribly exciting & people just cheer for the fun of it.  That's okay it's fun.
I wasn't a huge fan of George W Bush, I was not a fan of the endless war.  And I am against unchecked pollution.  I am all for developing cleaner ways to do things.  So we agree on a lot of things and Pearl Jam's music evokes a lot of feeling and energy that I have enjoyed along with you all.
I enjoyed bushleaguer.  I was at one of the shows where he wore the mask & did the funky dance I thought it was funny.
But if a few people boo who cares.

No, you did not say anybody is sheep but I think the statement "There are a lot of people who would cheer loudly no matter what Eddie says." inferred sheep ("inferred" was the word I used).  I don't know how else to interpret what you said.  Was I not close?

As for  "if a few people boo who cares"?  I do.  I've never booed at a show and I've been to many shows over a long period of time and I can only remember a few times people booed.  In 1968, I saw the Jimi Hendrix Experience.  The Buddy Miles Express opened that show and everybody was into it.  Sandwiched in between Buddy and Jimi there was a short acoustic set performed my Dino Valente (born Chet Powers, the man who wrote "Let's Get Together" and for a while sang for Quicksilver Messenger Service).  Buddy Miles band was a powerhouse and Jimi was, well, Jimi!  So I guess some in the crowd weren't in the mood for an acoustic set.  I thought it was great and the perfect balance between two hurricanes on stage. But to boo him?  Totally rude and uncalled for. 

Yes, I care if people boo.  It has no place in a musical performance.  Don't like what you here?  Leave.

I have an issue with someone booing the performance. 

I do not have an issue with someone booing something the artist says in between the songs, especially if it's political in nature. I can't imagine the band would disagree with that. I gather they prefer people be engaged, no matter positive or negative, as long as they are engaged at all.

With that said, if the song is a political statement, then does that make it ok? Bushleaguer is a mostly spoken word rant with a chorus.

yes, I believe it would actually fall under that category, especially when he brings out the mask. most artists expect audience engagement, and they'd be hypocritical if they only expected positive feedback or none at all.

What I was trying to say before is that an artist making political statements in between songs shouldn't expect the entire crowd to nod in agreeance like a bunch of bobbleheads.. I was not implying that pj fans are bobbleheads, not my intention at all.
And if it is like you say above then alrighty then.

Either  boo or nod in agreement?  This seems like black and white thinking.  Booing is mob behavior.  Nodding your head "yes" without critical thinking is sheep behavior.  Listening and making up one's own mind is intelligent behavior.

how is booing mob behaviour brian? If Ed wants to stand up on stage and make a political statement, that's well within his right. but it's within my right to vocalize my disapproval with said statement, is it not?
