Same here! I love listening to my cds, especially in the car.RoleModelsinBlood31 said:I own a crap ton of cd’s, but don’t own a single digital file!"A beacon on dry land"0 -
When you purchase physical media, you have something of value, something tangible. When you own digital files you have a valueless digital file of 0s and 1s. I have MANY, MANY digital files, but each of them are "throw away" no attachment at all.RoleModelsinBlood31 said:I own a crap ton of cd’s, but don’t own a single digital file!0 -

You say something of value. Out of interest, what do used stores in the US pay for a CD these days. In the UK you'd be lucky to get 30-50p when trading in a CD. They are of more value to keep and play.MedozK said:

Has anyone actually seen these .”new” CD releases? Do they actually exist?0

I'd like to know as well. Same original packaging or is there a difference. Love the hard book issues of recent albums and think the entire collection should be this way.0

It's been a couple of years since I had last listened to No Code on CD. When I went to pull it out, I found that the disc was missing from the case. I ordered a new CD copy from Amazon on Saturday. I figured that for $16, they'd still be using the same packaging, or I'd be getting new/old stock. Nope!
The double gatefold is now a single gatefold. The front and back are present, but the inside shots (that flipped up) are missing completely. The single gatefold houses a booklet on the left, containing artwork from the album. Instead of 9 polaroids, the booklet features all polaroids backed with lyrics.
The CD itself shows a copyright of 2006, 2017 and shows the Legacy brand.
I haven't listened yet. I was considering going to a thrift store to get a replacement disc, but I figured I'd give this one a go. I always enjoyed the sound quality of this album, so I'm hoping they just left it alone. Discogs and other places around the web are calling this one a reissue, not a remaster, so I'm hopeful they used the same DAT or even the original casts with this one. If you don't hear from me again in this thread, then it's safe to assume the pressing is the same.0 -

discogs shows a "no code" 2018 australia reissue with a jewel case. so, that is even different from the version described by SA46893?

If it's a different mastering, then the changes must be subtle. It might be a bit louder than before, but that could be my mind/ears playing tricks on me.Here's the presentation, in case anyone is curious:

Here's some more info:CD Label: LC00199/88985412702Inner CD: A0102953920-0101 11 A00, Sony DADC, IFPIL551Post edited by SA46893 on0 -
Does this new No Code CD have the lyrical change in Who You Are like the vinyl reissue?0
-
It has the "circumstance" lyric and not the "clapping hands" lyric.Of The Aggie said:Does this new No Code CD have the lyrical change in Who You Are like the vinyl reissue?

And I apologize for the typo...I really need to proofread... I meant to write 1996 instead of 2006 (regarding the copyright information). At least I included pictures, right? ;-)
I wasn't aware of the lyrical change. I guess that answers my question. This disc is a different master than the original. Good to know!Post edited by SA46893 on0 -
I think the new lyric has “avalanche” in it or something? The original is “clapping hands”SA46893 said:
