"Real Thing" written by Dave Abbruzzese, Jeff Ament, Stone Gossard, Senan Reyes (Sen Dog), Louis Freese (B Real), Lawrence Muggard (DJ Muggs)
Thanks! But Eddie still might have a role.

wasn't this one listed as "Pearl Jam" as well?  it could be Stone on vocals

Yeah, but I think Eddie was still involved somewhere. Same with Mankind, right? I'm just thinking that Pearl Jam isn't Pearl Jam when Eddie literally has nothing to do with it, and it's just some combo of the other members alone. I dunno, just a theory, lol.

Olé is a pretty mediocre song.. but the only time I really, really wished that it was not a PJ song what I was hearing, has been the first time I heard Sirens. Pearl Jam going full Bon Jovi.

Good point. I think I felt the same. Ole is horrible, but at least it still just felt like PJ doing a bad song. Sirens is just confusing as fuck.

yeah, Olé does not bother me that much anymore, I even still listen to it (and actually enjoy it) from time to time, plus it's not a song that takes up space on an actual album. do I dare to say it, I even come to appreciate Sweet Lew (yes), enjoyable bass lines and funny song that has been put where it belongs. There's not a single element that I enjoy in Sirens, from the cheesy lyrics to the music, even the guitar solo is cringeworthy. what the hell were they thinkin?
and to be back on topic, we pretty much have a rival for Sirens here..

Oh man, Ole is still like sticking knives in my ears, lol.
As for Sirens... it's totally weird and uncomfortable to me, but I think it has one redeeming quality - that way Eddie put that one phrase together, the part about death over the shoulder... I think the lyrics are tied together with the music in kind of an interesting way in that part. But besides that, yeah, it's just too weird for me. It's also weird for me to know that some of the band and BoB think of it as one of the band's masterpieces. BoB actually said that it's the best thing they've done since Black. That just worries me, lol.

Ed was def singing. does anyone have a clue what this might be? sounded like a female was singing background vocals.

I am totally stumped as was my girl. neither of us have ever heard it before.

    Any ideas?

Yeah, I was thinking Golden State too, but the female part is a lot more than background vocals - it's a full on duet - so I figured that couldn't be it.

Could be Again Today, I think Brandi Carlile sings back up on that. We could easily solve this if you would sing a few bars.

Ah, you're probably right about the song. I forgot that there were female backup vocals in that (not a fan). If that's it lolobugg, I'm not surprised you weren't aware of it. I felt like it flew pretty far below the radar for something Eddie did.

Thanks guys and gals. I think it probably is the Brandi Carlisle song. It was a full band song. rocking uptempo. Ed sounded a little like the Boss in some parts. no uke. I wish I could remember the words. I will try to track down that BC song. thanks for your help

it's been a long time since I heard a Ed song on the radio that I couldn't place.

I would have to go back to "Against the 70s" when it used to get radio play.
