It used to be part of school curriculum.   Bring gun safety classes back, totally agree.
So who best to regulate that other than the state?  Issue state licenses for gun owners that reflect basic competency.

If run through the DMV you wouldn't have much more admin cost since the brick and mortar already exists.

Some States already do, Illinois being one, Chicago is just getting worse.  Guns can’t be blamed, that is just a cop-out.  Nothing will change until people value life.  How do we get that done?

Step one would be to ban assault weapons and require gun registration and licensing.

We make it too easy to destroy life.

Yes, that's obviously the most reasonable explanation.  Other countries just value life more than the US does.

Fun fact: The Second Amendment was ratified to preserve slavery

There is literally a direct line from the 2nd Amendment to devaluation of human life.

I agree with your bolded statement, but these days idealists get mocked, so I don't see that changing. Maybe you're right that if other people can't be depended upon to value life, they themselves will need to secure their own.

no it fucking isn't a cop out. if you can fire off 1000 rounds in 10 minutes and you think that's not part of the issue, that's the fucking cop out.

I wonder how the victims in Texas, Orlando, Vegas and Sandy Hook would find the humor in this? Why don’t you forward it to some of them and report back? Being the tough guy you are and all.

    I can multitask.
The second amendment was to give the citizenry the right to keep and bear arms, so that they could fight back against a tyrannical government if need be.  The Second Amendment had nothing to do with preserving slavery. That fun fact listed above is simply wrong and was made up.
I mentioned Andrew Jackson simply because he was the founder of the Democrat Party, a big-time slave owner and a big-time Indian killer.
He should never have been put on the $20 bill.  Just ask any Native American what they think of him, and any African Americans who know the true history about slavery, who was for it and who was against it at the time, and who implemented it.

Your stance that somehow American's don't value life doesn't hold up in comparison to other countries. The NRA programmed narrative needs to shift away from 'more guns makes you safer' to more guns means more dead people and more gun homicide. It'll take a long time to steer the ship, but the facts need to be rolled into the validation of people's fear that is driving people feeling the need for guns.

Buddy of mine had a table at a gun show in Indiana today, feds were there trying to get sellers to sell without paperwork.

How do I know?  One ID'd themself to him.

    So much for that "loophole".

One gun show in the shangrala of indianer constitutes definitive proof that all gun sales at all gun shows have the requisite, if required, background checks and paper work in order. Also, no guns are sold out of the trunk in the parking lot. Welcome to Unsung’s America where the heavy boot of government is firmly on the necks of patriots.

Fake fun facts about the second amendment being implemented to preserve slavery has no legs to stand on.
The truth stings sometimes don't it, CM189,****,
That fake fun fact that you linked is designed to confuse people even more than they already are.  It's to bad that gullible people lap it up like thirsty dogs.
Typical conservative  Knows they're wrong, proceeds to double down on their stupidity anyways.

    Overthrow any tyrannical governments lately?

Yep,  unfortunately as long as we're here, the struggle continues.

You've read the bill proposal, right? The struggle to own semi auto assault rifles? Oh the hardships that would create. Only a privileged male would call that a struggle.

I mean you guys are ridiculous. Oh no, I can't have those 205 death machines that are referenced. How will you survive with the over 2000 left to choose from? Plus, you get to keep what you own lawfully!

    Key provisions

    • Bans the sale, manufacture, transfer and importation of 205 military-style assault weapons by name. Owners may keep existing weapons.
    • Bans any assault weapon that accepts a detachable ammunition magazine and has one or more military characteristics including a pistol grip, a forward grip, a barrel shroud, a threaded barrel or a folding or telescoping stock. Owners may keep existing weapons.
    • Bans magazines and other ammunition feeding devices that hold more than 10 rounds of ammunition, which allow shooters to quickly fire many rounds without needing to reload. Owners may keep existing magazines.

    Exemptions to bill

    • The bill exempts by name more than 2,200 guns for hunting, household defense or recreational purposes.
    • The bill includes a grandfather clause that exempts all weapons lawfully possessed at the date of enactment.

    Other provisions:

    • Requires a background check on any future sale, trade or gifting of an assault weapon covered by the bill.
    • Requires that grandfathered assault weapons are stored using a secure gun storage or safety device like a trigger lock.
    • Prohibits the transfer of high-capacity ammunition magazines.
    • Bans bump-fire stocks and other devices that allow semi-automatic weapons to fire at fully automatic rates.
    It's a hopeless situation...

You're struggling to buy guns? You must be doing it wrong. Everyone else seems to be able to do it without too much trouble.
