39, Been a fan since the first time I heard them in 91. So since I was 14. I washed dishes in a restaurant, and one of the cooks stormed in one day and said ok bitches, we are listening to this today. He stuck his brand new Pearl Jam 10 cd in the kitchen boombox, and the rest is history. I rushed to local box store immediately after work & got my own. We had that on every day. So I basically have grown up with this band.
34. My oldest brother (6 years my senior), whom I always tried to emulate, brought home a CD copy of Ten in late 1991. I heard it on his stereo that night and laid in the floor of his room and listened to the whole thing with him. I asked him to make me a copy on cassette for my Walkman and the next day he gave me an "original" cassette he went and got from the record store instead as well as 'Nevermind' since my mom wouldn't buy it for me due to the cover art. Been going strong ever since!
46 and first heard PJ while watching Singles, never been too far away from my cassette, CD, iPod or record player since!

25 and started listening to PJ regularly in high school - so around the Pearl Jam album in 2006. Got addicted from there. Have since seen them about 5 times, and Eddie solo as well. Looking forward to adding some more shows to the list in 2018!
I feel ya there. Went to my first show at 18 and felt like one of the youngest people there. Wish more people around my age were into them but I'm fine going to shows and meeting new people regardless of age.

I caught on pretty soon after Backspacer was released. Not because of that album specifically, just how the timing worked out. I’m 21 now and I have 4 shows under my belt

36. Started listening to the band (and rock music) when I was 15. Merkinball was the first new release that came out after I got into them. I heard the last 30 seconds of I Got Id on the radio and without even hearing Eddie's vocal I thought..."that was Pearl Jam's new song". I was sucked in from the beginning though. I remember going to Best Buy and buying Ten and the Oceans single as my first ever music purchases. Almost bought a Journey album as it was in the PJ section and I didn't know any better about packaging and such.
I put together some numbers, these are the results. Of course they are not exact, considering this thread is a year old.
83 people gave their age. 38 years old is the average. 16 is the youngest. 64 is the eldest group ages: 10-20: 5 21-30: 19 31-40: 30 41-50:22 51-60: 5 61+: 2
I have been listening to them ever since they were on the radio. My wife and I met in high school and a passion for Pearl Jam was a one of those things that we had in common. One of my fondest memories in high school would be listening to Pearl Jam and talking on the phone with her. I would always pick the slower songs. Parting Ways (damn typewriter), Release, Indifference, Immortality to name a few. I really never gave there whole catalogue a shot until the later years and regrettably never made a live show until 2013. Hearing Fatal and Otherside played in Worcester blew my mind and I started to listen to everything that this band had to give.
36...closing in on 37. I got into rock at a very young age. I remember getting Appetite for Destruction on cassette in 3rd grade, which I look back at now and think it probably wasn't appropriate for an 8 year old lol. Got Nevermind on cassette at age 10 and played the shit out of it. Then came Ten. Got it on CD and couldn't get enough of it. Great memories!
37. My dad got me a CD player for christmas 1992 and got me my first 3 CDs, the two I wanted Metallica Black and Boyz to Men (I was 12!) and 1 I didn’t ask for, Pearl Jam Ten (which he was told was the hottest band out by the kid at Best Buy). joined the 10Club in 1999 after being introduced to the internet in my tiny town (thanks my older brother desperately searching for a certain Pamela Anderson video and willing to PAY for AOL).

40. I feel like I am the average age. Lots of people seem to be my age, give or take 5 years at the shows. I think I've listened to the band since around '92. I remember having a picture of the band in my locker in grade 9. So I know I was into the band before the Spring of '92 which would of been before I turned 14. That puts me at 13. That seems so young... lol. They solidified themselves as my favourite band after I saw my first headlining gig at Missoula in '98 (previously only having seen them do a short but powerful set at Lolla '92).
