    If smear campaigns built on proven falsehoods are so impactful as to sway an election, I don't see how anyone can predict a strong future for the rarely-United States. The American political system was ripe for exploitation, and no one with the desire to make structural changes has the ability to, and no one with the ability to make structural changes has the desire to.

    And what do we do? Spend our time talking about how Russia was so horrible to pander to stupid/misinformed/proud people who would accept their statements without even questioning it.

    At this point, I'm eagerly awaiting the rest of the world's turn as the human experiment fails and we return the world to better species than our own.

    The polls are close, but the state has consistently gone blue and I'm not sure why that would change now.  Trump hasn't become more popular.  But Hays isn't necessarily correct.  Gillespie hasn't campaigned on white identity politics.  He has stayed pretty straight to what he is... a lobbyist turned candidate.  Chris Hays is way overstating the issue.
