I invest too much. Unfortunately we live in a sports world where stuff like that matters. Some of us know it takes more than one player or manager to win.

goes to show how they underperformed in the regular season. But they made the playoffs. And they're just as good as most of these division winners.
    I thought they over performed.
They had the 2nd best run differential in the AL and the 4th best record. You thought wrong
    You crack me up, man.

So, BEFORE the season you expected:
     a 91 win season?
    Judge to be a MVP?
Gregorius to have a career year?
Gardner to have a career high in HR's?
Severino to be the 3rd best pitcher in the AL?
And, CC Sabathia to have a good bounce-back year, that he had?

If so, then yeah, i thought wrong, because i wouldn't have expected all of that to happen for the Yankees this year, Cliffy.

Before the season the upside for this team was about 90 wins. Over/Under was about 83 wins. Didi was trending up. Gardner eventually was going to reach 20 hr. He's been trying forever. You could just replace Severino's season with what Tanaka's should have been. Their offense was still going to be good even if Judge didn't have the season he had. They had a great bullpen before the trades. Like last year if they had a lead by the 6th it was most likely going to be a win.

But we're talking about how they underperformed by how much they outscored their opponents by. Problem was they lost a lot of close games.

Individual players definitely overperformed but record wise with how the players did play, they underperformed their record

Every team if you examine it closely probably has 10 games they should have won and 10 they should have lost, maybe not 10 but something close. To get 91 wins and be on the verge of going to the ALCS is a very step from where the previous four seasons have been.
