I liked it. We saw it at a local Drive-In last night. They brought in a Pearl Jam cover band to play before the film. It was much more of an experience than it was just seeing a movie.

As for the film itself, it's very well done. Beautifully shot, great sound, great stories about the Cubs. I will say that I was wrong about how much of a focus the Cubs would be. I enjoyed that part, but if you have an aversion to the Cubs or to baseball you may not.

Highlight for me was the Ernie Banks footage from 2013 since that was the only Wrigley show I was at.

It's one part concert film, one part love letter to the Cubs. But the band playing the concert is Pearl Jam and the guy writing the love letter is Eddie Vedder. If you are a fan of this band you'll enjoy Let's Play Two.

I'm gonna be in Oklahoma City on the 3rd.  Got tickets to the local Harkins (or wherever it's showing).  Anyone want to meet up for a drink or two beforehand?

we'll be seeing the movie at harkins as well. not sure we could meet up before hand, but possibly after? whiskey chicks? bricktown brewery? it'll be me, my wife, and a friend.

  • Curious to hear some fan views from any Cleveland Indians fans who had to suffer the crushing game seven loss to the Cubs and now have it immortalized in a film by your favorite band.

Im seeing the film tomorrow in Cleveland. Hopefully I still enjoy it!

Saw it yesterday (sunday) here in Seattle. There was maybe 15 of us in the theater. So I was surprised it was so empty. I really liked it.
Sounded & looked great on the big screen. I could do with less fan interviews and constant cuts to fans rocking and zoning out to the music. Call me a curmudgeon but that stuff takes me out of the music and my own trip with it. It's definitely cubs/baseball heavy but I love baseball and my wifes a cubs fan so I was fine with that. Of course any time you can see the boys do their thing especially on a huge movie screen with killer sound, its well worth it. That said I agree a blu ray packed with extras & more songs is most definitely needed.

Just left the indy showing... Full theater

Loved it, my only complaint would be some of the songs selected but that's just me trying to find something to bitch about.

The sound in the theater was awful

Fun movie.  Great to hang with my touring buddies and see the boys on the big screen.
I don't need to see it again.  Love Eddie but this was too much eddie for a Pearl Jam documentary.
    Bring on the 2018 tour

Just saw it in Dallas at The Magnolia.  Really enjoyed it. Danny Clinch did a great job.

The sound though was not good. Really really loud and tinny. It was painful at times. Hopefully that was the fault of the theaters sound system and it will be fine on the blu ray.
  • LOVED IT.
Band, sound, cinematography, feeling, memories ... all great.
Get to lock in on band, concerts during live performances. But also a lot of very nice and personal collage moments.
It's different than previous PJ movies and not what was initially expected. But I think it's going to age really well and be very special in 20 years. It's going to stand out, simply because of how special the Wrigley shows were and the Cubs' first WS in 108 years.
Wish it was 3 hours and had more songs. But that's what the Blu-Ray is for.
Easily their best shot video. The live footage is fantastic.
    Thanks again, PJ!

Saw it tonight in Red Bank NJ. The sound was incredible.

The film was so well done. Heartfelt. Funny. And felt like I was back at Wrigley.

Thought the end was amazing. When the Cubs win and it's basically video for a song written 10 years ago.

What struck me most though was the overwhelming underlying theme of joy. The joy of people singing the songs. The bands faces. The shots of the crowd (bravo Danny Fucking Clinch). The worry on Eds face when he was worried they would lose. The opposite when they won.

But most of all just seeing people happy. All of us at the show. And everyone two months later. Communities.

After the last last two days it was just good to see happy people singing and dancing.

    Bring on a tour.

  • The community of the fans, band really does shine through.

Also so loved the connections with 92 and 13. A ton of very strong moments directed by Clinch.
  • Mark Pellington who directed Jeremy was at the movie in Littleton, Colorado tonight. He did an intro and they played the directors cut of Jeremy before the movie. Crazy.

Just saw it in Red Bank tonight as well. Sat right in the front row center and loved every second of it. If you hate baseball and don't give a damn about Pearl Jam, I still don't know how you could walk away without being deeply moved by this film.

Masterfully shot and edited and told a beautiful story of passion, triumph, heart and the human spirit. My friends and I walked out exhilarated. I can't recommend it enough.

Really fun night at the Gateway Film Center in Columbus...
we sold out two theatres tonight & they added an encore screening tomorrow night!!
So happy I saw it on the big screen and the sound was just incredible.
I had goosebumps from the beginning notes of Low Light and have to admit...
I did tear up a little bit during Inside Job and Release,
GREAT stories and the performance was top-notch!!
LOVED seeing the acoustic performance on the Murphy's Bleachers roof...
and the fact that they played my favorite PJ song up there made it even sweeter!!
    The film itself is gorgeous...
really liked the editing and seeing the wide shots of the stage and the audience.
Super-stoked for the Blu-ray release and can't wait to see the bonus footage.

Just got back from the North Hollywood showing. Really, really loved it. Not much of a baseball guy but I really loved the way the songs weaved in and out of the narrative. I was captivated the whole time.

I'm so fired up!  I have the adrenaline feeling like after a show!  Pearl Jam has always been my therapy after a bad day..this screening came at the perfect time!  I saw it at the Arclight in Hollywood tonight.  Very glad that I saw this on the big screen!  I really had to contain myself to keep from singing...everyone in my row and in front of me was calmly sitting, so I didn't want to be disruptive.

Two emotional moments in the film for me were "Inside Job" and "Release."

  • Excellent film.  Saw it tonight in Sacramento, wonderfully my group sat behind a group of fans that were super excited to be there.  So much fun.  The sound was perfect.  The vibe was amazing.  I was with a group of friends who have not been to a PJ sow before; this screening made them want to attend one; mission accomplished. It was truly enjoyable from Low Light to I've Got A Feeling.  So.Much.Fun.

Waiting for the film to start here in Melbourne Australia. Theatre half full (no pun intended) and the Gold Class session was sold out!
    ----------------------------

Wow! In Jeff's own words from PJ20...Pure Stoke! I really enjoyed every minute of that film and the story of the music and the World Series was told seamlessly. Being from Australia I'm not a big baseball fan, but the film as a complete package came together so well!
So many highlights...Murphys Bleachers, both PJ and Cubs fans, the bands interaction with each other, Gleason, Rodman, Ed celebrating the win, Metro footage, the Wrigley sod, and the real highlight....RELEASE!!!! You could hear people crying and sniffling in the theatre!

It was funny at then end when people were leaving during the credits and then MYM started ripping through the speakers! A nice little 'Easter egg' I suppose you could say.

The sound was spot on too! I blasted the soundtrack all the way home (10minutes).

Does anyone know if Clinch produces music too!? Hehe only joking!

A must for every PJ fan!
