To sing or not to sing? That is the question!!

Just tell the Band to turn it up a little louder and then the problem will be solved!NERDS!0

I like it fine when the crowd sings (at Philly it was unbelievable) but if I'm singing really loud then I can't hear Eddie. And I like to hear Eddie. So I just sing at the usual spots.Golden Gate Park 1995 San Jose 1995 Oakland 2 1997 Mountain View 2000 Mountain View 2003 Bridge School Benefit 2003 Philadelphia 2005 San Francisco 2 2006 Bridge School Benefit 2006 Golden Gate Park 2009 Wrigley Field 2013 Oakland 2013 Bridge School Benefit 2014...0

fine on some songs, but I'm there to hear Ed singing, not some tuneless screamer (I had a stereo of tehm at the RHCP gig on Friday)
so if you don't stop me hearing the band and can actually sing in tune, fine.
Otherwise buy a karaokee machine.0 -
I don't enjoy "can't carry a tune boy" next to me drowning out Ed. There are times to sing and times to not.
The whole concert can be a little annoying.
Yes, YOU are there to have a good time, as are the others around you. Just be courteous.0 -
Take a listen to Jeremy from State College and tell me you wouldn't want to be a part of that! That was one epic audience sing-along!SoonForgotten2 said:As with genius and insanity there can be a very fine line between enjoying yourself and being obnoxious. As an aside, Ed really needs to stop with that corny letting the audience sing the verses shit. We're there to hear Pearl Jam play with Ed singing the songs.

I once was lucky enough to hear "Fatal" at a concert. I was also unlucky, because the person behind me heard the first few notes and freaked out. Then proceeded to sing the song as loud as possible. Fist pumping. I mean...i get it...songs that hit us (especially the rare ones) can really make your concert moment. but come on....there is no reason anyone should be singing along with that song. Only Ed should sing it.
For songs that are loud, and are obvious crowd songs...sing away. Just leave the quiet ones and the ballads alone.

No no no. Sing as loud as u can.I found my place......and it's alright0

I say fuck it and do what you feel. Its your show. If people around you don't like it they should sing louder. It's all about you. Sing bro singI found my place......and it's alright0

If you could have seen the look on Ed's face on Sunday in Sydney you would sing your heart out on every song. He was blown away by the audience at times and it's an amazing feeling to know that you have been a part of that.“Do not postpone happiness”

Siiiiiiing it sisters!
The only time it has annoyed me was at a show by a band called the adults in a small bar and the woman behind me was singing what she thought was a harmony.. The song didn't have a harmony. It sounded awful. She was louder than the singer.
But at Pearl Jam. Sing it loud.

Sing it loud man.I took my wife to the show in Phoenix. She was blown away by how loud the crowd was singing and how the crowd really pushes Ed into another gear. She was always able to here Ed no matter how loud people were. You can see it on Eds face when he is loving the crowd. PJ is one of a kind that way. They have a connection to their fans maybe no one else has had since the Grateful Dead.Tom Brady & Donald Trump, BFF's

I love singing at PJ show and love when people do it. I have tried to resist but it's impossible. One time a guy next to me was so silent (he just did the battery with his hands)that I have asked him if I was disturbing him. He say: no problem, we make a show together, you sing and I play the battery!!

I don't sing...I'm too self-conscious to but I love when everyone is singing. I can understand the annoyance of people talking or of people screaming but I love when the place is so loud that you practically cannot hear the band. Not coincidentally those are always great shows and the crowd participation definitely adds to that.Randall's Island, NY 9/29/96; Camden, NJ 9/2/00; Philadelphia, PA 10/3/05; East Rutherford, NJ 6/1/06; Virginia Beach, VA 6/17/08; Camden, NJ 6/19/08; Philadelphia, PA 10/27/09, 10/28/09, 10/30/09, 10/31/090

I don't compaire singing to dancing. I do both and I love it if I see other people losing theirselves to the music.
The only rule I keep is that I don't trouble other people with my enjoying the show. That has to be within reason. So I don't piss in empty cups, I don't use my cell phone, I don't talk excessively and I say sorry when I bup into someone.
Singing and dancing is why music is played so go right ahead I say.

I sing and "dance" ( Eddy style ) and I have no count of how many air guitars I have worn out throughout a show …. I don't care if anyone thinks I look foolish ( so far only positive remarks ) I try to enjoy the show as if it was my last … who knowsBurn my eyes and try to blind me

id rather EVERYONE sings loudly and badly than ANYONE stand there recording with a damn cell phone...gets my goat, it feels utterly disrespectful and im sorry but il get downright pugilistic in asserting that you cant enjoy a show properly with a damn cell held up. give up your tickets to someone who's there for the music.
pics of US audiences are EMBARRASSING with 75% holding up phones, 50% watching the show on that tiny bright ass screen...then you see Euro or S American shows and everyone is locked in and blown away!Monkey Driven, Call this Living?0 -
Yup there are gigs where pissing in a cup happens. A friend of mine who sometimes seems a bit retarded pissed in his cup at a U2 gig. There are some gigs here in the country side where they fill a big bucket on a stick up with beer and piss and wave it around the room. I shit you not. :-q It's supposed to be all good fun, but I would have trouble seeing it if I was witnessing it.rgambs said:

I'm with you all the way concerning Cellphone use.
It's kind of like a tourist from Japan you see where you've been once you get home.
Or even worse, it's more important to let the rest of the world know that you are at this or that.
It's not so much about enjoying the moment than it is about showing off and making an impression. It's not who I am underneath, but what I do that defines me.

IMO, you should enjoy yourself however you please as long as it doesn't bother the person next to you. Singing...fine. Singing loud (drunk or sober) to the point where the person next to you can hear you over the music...selfish. But that's how people are and it's no longer a surprise, just annoying.Found: Soundgarden Hyde Park DVD (Thank you for the gift!)
