Oh man.  Just imagining the babies he's stomped to get some of those goods is scary.
I'm like an opening band for your mom.

I don't have a problem with the guy... don't know him, I'm sure he is a nice guy, and is clearly a fan (sure hope so with that collection lol)... but I have read some interesting stories over the years lol

With that being said... I'm not a big fan of this odd, and growing trend of fetishist pearl jam merch collecting that has seemed to become more important than the music in some circles... which in some ways is making Pearl Jam look more like a merch company than an actual band that still creates music... let's be honest, there seems to be more energy and creativeness being put into the merch than is being put into new music the last decade... which is sad

Anybody have a Gorge 2005 print they want to get rid of? Lol

It feels good to be on the other side of the collecting craze (of course I need a tour to happen to confirm it).   It is a little sad to think of how many parking lots I've stood in for hours and hours over the years hoping to get a poster or sticker.

He may or may not have clubbed a baby seal.  We cannot be exactly sure.

That is too much for this guy. It would definitely be be awesome to have some things (like that Aussie surf board) but I have my limitations. I go to any shows close by, by the cd's, an occasional shirt and a poster for each of the Wrigley shows I've gone to. But that's about it.

I still have PJ preset as station #1 on my Sirius and PJ occupies about 70% of the music I listen to. I think of myself as way more than a casual fan, but I haven't bought in on the merch frenzy that is sweeping the PJ nation.

I'd like to definitely have a couple nice PJ pieces one day to display  (been working on finishing my basement with this in mind). I'd rather have some music memorabilia, some sports memorabilia, some actor/actress memorabilia and some US history memorabilia. Something where no matter who visits, they see items that they enjoy.

    Items desired:
    Autographed PJ guitar
Greg Maddux autograph  (jersey would be best)
Tom Hanks signed movie poster (Forest Gump)
    Anything NASA

I knew that getting a fully autographed album would be the peak for me.  Anything else is more of a daydream. So I'm happy

A signed guitar would be the pinnacle but since I'm not willing to shell out $50K for one it will remain a dream.

i'm not at all impressed and/or could care less about anyone's massive collection of anything. no offense to you big collectors out there...basically you can't take the shit you collect, your whole life, with you when you leave the planet...i arrived with nothing and that's how i will go out.
his kids/siblings will be happy because they will sell it all as soon as he dies and then go spend the big $ on something they want! LOL.

^You can't take your memories either. So why bother collecting experiences? We should all just sit in a room and do nothing and care about nothing until we die? That logic just makes no sense. People will decide what makes them happy in life and pursue it. Just because you can't have it when you die doesn't mean you shouldn't enjoy what you want to while you live.

His goal is collecting, and he has done an impressive job of it, so good for him.

i use to collect some things. then i woke up and i got myself fully cured with that nutty obsession. it makes no sense to me anymore to the point where i ask myself why i even bothered to even start. with age comes wisdom AND to each their own but imo it makes no sense to me in these times that we live in for that level of greed/want. my collecting was bad but nothing compared to this guy's massive over obsession with stuff.

I got one I'll sell ya. It's super rare...it has Benjamin Franklin's picture on it.  Totally the "Kong" of $100 bills. I'll let it go for $550.

    Deal?

Okay, but then I'll also need a Florida quarter and a Canadian penny!

Yeah, that seems like a fantastic plan to me! He enjoys the shit out of his beloved collection until the day he dies, and then it goes to good use for his kids once he's dead. I'm personally quite impressed by a plan as good as that, lol. The only flaw is that, by the time this guy dies, the world will likely be a completely different place, where PJ posters don't mean shit to anyone and have almost no real value. So his kids might end up pretty disappointed, lol.
