For me it did too moline. Moline kind of loses its way after no code, which was epic on its own Detroit is better too to bottom imo. But that's a whole other topic...buck502000 said:
That show was something special - might have even topped what occurred the next night in MolineSpiritual_Chaos said:Stumbled upon the Detroit 2014 show.
Has there been a better triple-punch start of a show this shows:
1. Release
2. Oceans
3. Nothingman
I'm not even the biggest fan of Oceans. But thats a great start of a show.0 -

For me, Charlottesville 2013:
Pendulum
Release
In My Tree
I'm also a big fan of Memphis 2014:
Pendulum
Wash
Low Light
I absolutely love Pendulum, so the 2013-2014 shows with the slow builds were perfect to me."It's best to live in grace before you're forced to." EV- 10/09/20140 -
I definitely prefer the slow burn start of a show that became common on the LB tour... work up to the hard stuff... what's the rush, we've got all night

I like my shows like I like my sex
Tailgate for a few hours to get ready
rush to the front
walk on to Metamorphosis 2
fast start
no elderly woman
no piss breaks
Smoke a few bowls during encore breaks
Over 3 hours
The whole world will be different soon... - EV

The hard and fast openers usually feature songs you'd be likely to get later in the set, too. The traditional slow openers usually feature songs that if you don't get then you aren't getting at all. There are some exceptions of course but if your show is starting with Why Go or Corduroy it's likely you aren't getting Release or Long Road or Wash (etc.) that night.my2hands said:I definitely prefer the slow burn start of a show that became common on the LB tour... work up to the hard stuff... what's the rush, we've got all night

Amsterdam 2 2012- Release in the encore
Quebec City 2016- Wash in the encore
These 3 shows are exceptions to the rule and are highlights in my collection.
To stay on topic:
Vancouver 2013
Oceans
Can't Keep
Low Light
I also enjoy the Euro 2014 shows with Black early in the set.
Vienna 2014
Long Road
Can't Keep
Black
We really are lucky to be fans of such a great band that puts great care into making every show unique."It's best to live in grace before you're forced to." EV- 10/09/20140 -
Someone needs to do some statistical analysis here

I'm with you both there. Not gonna lie, "the good bad and the ugly" entrance music set the stage nicely, too.NE18466 said:For slow start....

I'm more in favour of the "hard and fast" openings personally. TO1 '16 gets off on a great start with Go (with a weird Why Go drum opening), DTE, Mind Your Manners.....
Then they go into all of Binaural.... with a few more good rockers....0 -

I wish I could've been at that one. Love that bootleg. One of my favorite versions of go, with the intro and all. Incredible start!Thief of Silence said:I'm more in favour of the "hard and fast" openings personally. It's hard to decide on the ultimate 1..2...3 punch. My first PJ was a good place to start

I smile, but who am I kidding...0 -
The "fast" or harder openings used to be a lot more frequent before 2013 when they had opening bands and played 2 hours... now that they have stopped fucking around and are pushing 3 hours every show I MUCH prefer the slower atmospheric 2-3 song openers0
