They rarely disappoint to start a show. I struggle between the kick ass opening and the slow flow. There are some great set openings on that 2007 tour. They need to release that tour on bootleg.

    Werchter, Belgium '07:
    1. Go
    2. Animal
    3. Brain of J

Another favorite is Wembley from that year:
    1. Long Road
    2. Severed Hand
    3. Grievance
    4. Comatose (yeah it's #4, but wow)

Dusseldorf '07 (Blistering versions of Whipping and Brain):
    1. Sometimes
    2. Whipping
    3. Brain of J

Ah hell, I could go on forever. I love how they open shows :) It's the beginning of everything.
Dusseldorf '07 man, yeah..we lost our mind in seconds..
    Chicago 2009..
    Hard to Imagine
    Corduroy
    In my Tree
    Last Exit
    Athens 2006. Dusseldorf 2007. Berlin 2009. Venice 2010. Amsterdam 1 2012. Amsterdam 1+2 2014. Buenos Aires 2015.
Prague Krakow Berlin 2018. Berlin 2022
    EV, Taormina 1+2 2017.

I wish i was the souvenir you kept your house key on..

Weird order starting with RVM, the longest of the 3.

Feels a bit unbalanced having Release follow Long Road. :)

my first show was extremely kick ass:
sometimes, go, spin, hail hail, animal (song had to be stopped because so many people fell down)

    1.  Release (best opener period)
    2.Given to Fly
    3  Corduroy
According to our "weakest link" polls, this one would be a good one (all three songs were in the final four).
my first show. Getting GOAT opener Release and the rain pouring down was pure magic.

Wrigley 2 2016 - Oceans -Footsteps - Off He Goes was quite spine-tingling

Stumbled upon the Detroit 2014 show.

Has there been a better triple-punch start of a show this shows:

    1. Release
    2. Oceans
    3. Nothingman

I'm not even the biggest fan of Oceans. But thats a great start of a show.
That show was something special - might have even topped what occurred the next night in Moline

Greatest start I witnessed live: Berlin 05.07.2012:

    Oceans
    Breakerfall
    Animal
    ...
    Save You
    In Hiding

5 songs in I would have been happy even if they stopped right there... :) (actually even Oceans and Breakerfall would have been enough ;)

Cincinnati 06 was Long Road, Save You, Hail Hail...Personally that was one of my favorite openings to a show. Then they went into WWS, Severed Hand, and Corduroy. Opening with Why Go at Lolla 07 was awesome too.

    My fav, that I've seen.
    April 23, 2003
    Champaign, IL

    1 Do The Evolution
    2 Corduroy
    3 Save You

When they came out and ripped into DTE, I knew we were in for a great night.  They did not disappoint.
Clearly something was under Ed's skin.  Early in the show he said, "I feel like a lion in cage.  Any Christians want to get eaten?"

Arguably one of the best shows ever by pearl jam.  Check out the video bud.  Longest pj show until penn state in '03.  Just listen to the opening speech by ed....sick sick sick sick sick show.  Also check out the monologue in the middle of porch.

Back then, it wasn't as long as it is now. At least not when they played it as an opener
