Do you see the way....
- it connects the band.
- it connects the fans.
- it bridges time.

Has the song changed in any particular way through the years?

The only substantial change that I remember is back in 2006 Matt played a pretty solid tom-tom pattern towards the climax of the song. I wish he'd bring that back actually.

I was thinking earlier, if BOB was brought Present Tense today, Mike's guitar that we all know and love would be replaced by a piano. Then I started thinking that it might sound cool, so I've decided that I might record a demo of it at home. Like a Present Day Present Tense.

Just mentioned this in another thread: Do you think this song should have been one of the singles from No Code. I think it might have been a pretty big hit, no?

IMO, No. Hail Hail would be the only hit on the record. What makes No Code so special is the lack of radio hits.
PT like the rest of No Code is too deep for radio.

I agree for the most part. Smile probably would have been a solid radio single. The chorus is short, to the point, and catchy as hell.
