Listened to the Ten podcast yesterday...not too bad at all. I had a few distractions while listening so maybe I missed it but I thought they's break down the songs a bit more. The Jeremy director was pretty dead pan.
Were they obligated to go into that much detail about those Blue Apron dinners????0 -

The Celebration Rock Podcast Delves Deep Into Pearl Jam’s ‘Vs.’ And ‘Vitalogy’
Steven Hyden
03.20.17
This week on The Celebration Rock Podcast is continuing aseries on Pearl Jam by exploring two of the band’s most famous albums, 1993’s Vs. and 1994’s Vitalogy, in two new episodes.
With Vs., Pearl Jam capitalized on the slow-burn success of its 1991 debut Ten — in just five days, Vs. sold more than 950,000 copies. After touring non-stop in the previous two years, Pearl Jam entered the studio in peak shape, and cranked out some of the most loved songs its career, including “Go,” “Animal,” “Daughter,” and “Rearviewmirror.” With his guest Dave Hartley of the great indie band The War On Drugs, Hyden discusses the impact of Vs. and whether the record holds up nearly 25 years later.
The next Pearl Jam record, Vitalogy, is arguably the most popular album among Pearl Jam fans. A chaotic record that mixes some of Pearl Jam’s most crowd-pleasing material (“Better Man,” “Corduroy”) with some of the band’s weirdest and most discursive tunes (“Bugs” anyone?), Vitality is a chaotic record that reflects a chaotic period in Pearl Jam history. To help make sense of Vitalogy, Hyden spoke with the writer and critic Chuck Klosterman, who considers Vitalogy to be his personal favorite Pearl Jam release.

Listened to them both last night. Very entertaining.
Kind of interesting that the host stated that Vitalogy is the probably most revered album of long time fans. Although we all love it, I feel like there are two camps around here: Ten/Vs and No Code/Yield. I know I am overgeneralizing to a certain (high?) degree but it seems that the "extra" stuff on Vitalogy drops is down a peg or two in terms of one's rankings.

Ten, Vs and Yield are their three best, IMO. And you are correct, the filler on Vitalogy does knock it down.rummy said:Listened to them both last night. Very entertaining.

Ok I have to be honest. I listened to the Ten podcast. I found it to be repetitive and annoying. It's like they were making the same points over and over. The Jeremy video director came off as a bit pretentious and he kept yawning and breathing heavy. Weird. I learned nothing new except that the video definitely doesn't define that song for me anymore even though back then maybe it did. Hope the next one is better.5/3/92 Omaha, NE

he sounds like that in every interview I've heard or seen him. I just think that's how he talks. I liked the podcast. But do wish there was moreshetellsherself said:Ok I have to be honest. The Ten one was indeed disappointing. I mean, hey, I don't mind listening to people talk about Pearl Jam but the Ten show was a bit of a let down. I enjoyed the next two more. HOWEVER, it amazes me that the Vitalogy guest wasn't sure of the Vitalogy-NoCode-Yield release sequence. Come on!shetellsherself said:Ok I have to be honest. I listened to the Ten podcast. Happy for any and all things where folks write about/talk about how great Pearl Jam is. These podcasts are a little weird in that I feel like most of us here know more about the band/albums than the people on this podcast (listened to Ten and Vs. so far). Especially weird that the host questions whether or not he is getting basic facts correct. But, like I said, I will absorb and generally enjoy anything that is further exploring PJ and its members.Mansfield 6/30/08

I've made it through all three, and Klosterman is the best guest (by far) so far. There's an abstraction and depth to how he talks about what Pearl Jam and Vitalogy means/meant, v. how everyone else seems to talk about what the band and/or album is/was. I've found all the interviews entertaining, but Klosterman's is the most interesting. I will be curious how they approach the rest of the catalog...PJx77

I just don't think any of the previous guests would be worthy enough to discuss the next four albums.gregoryield said:I've made it through all three, and Klosterman is the best guest (by far) so far. Are any of you involved in writing, public speaking, or media? If so, you might have been worthy guests!
