Fitting the SnapBack Cubs/Sox hats

I know there was a thread here somewhere to make the hat fit your head better, not big on having a top hat. Can anyone provide the link?

Best bet is getting started on a HGH program to make your head bigger. Either that or take a job working for Amtrak.

Hair dryer for 3 min on the inside of the cap. Put a towel or paper towel on the inside to protect your scalp from burning (or on the top of your head I guess), and then put the hat on and press it while hot to your hear to fit it.

I passed on the hat several times because this style of New Era hat is pretty awful (from the high cut to the cardboard brim). But then I had 4-5 beers at the NLCS clincher and said fuck it. I molded it. I guess it looks OK I guess. Brim is still shit though.

Yeah. Snapbacks are awful. High crowns are awful. Cheap bills are awful. I bought one to put on the mantle, though, cuz I sure as hell ain't wearing it.

Another method I've found that works to some degree: underinflate a volleyball....put it in the hat.....then pump it up such that it's firm but not too firm (you don't want to put too much pressure on it that it rips the plastic fastener off at the base). Leave it on the counter a couple days, and then presto...

The real problem with this style of cap (the 9FIFTY snapback) is that the fit is totally inconsistent. The crown height is all over the place. My Sox-PJ crown is ridiculously high. Even looks weird when I wear it backwards. But I have a few other 9FIFTYs that just happen to have a lower crown and look great. New Era quality control has gone way down, I guess.

I always wash hats with a high crown in cold water. This will loosen up the hat a bit. Then place the hat in the dryer for 15-20 minutes. Pull the hat out while it is still damp but warm. Place it on your head and work it for whatever look your going for. I put my hat on low and fix the bill to the look I am going for. Just my 2 cents...
