Changes for me depending on mood, Vs has a soft spot cause I was a kid and listened to it everyday.
Really loved No Code, Riot Act and Yield. Of course Ten was a classic but I remember listening the first few times thinking the songs all sounded the same. (I was 12)
If I have to choose... I'm going with No Code."Born on third, thinks he got a triple."0 -
Depends on my mood. Heavy rotation between Vs. and No Code.0

I can relate to your comment about the songs on Ten. Early on, I had a hard time differentiating between Oceans, Garden, Deep, and Release.scurtis said:Changes for me depending on mood, Vs has a soft spot cause I was a kid and listened to it everyday.

The one-word song titles probably didn't help.

For me it's this too. However, in the broader context, it's hard to argue with 10.SmallestOceans said:Binaural for me is their deepest and darkest recording. There's so many subtleties that you can pick up on with every subsequent listen. Every song on that record is so damn good and it feels like every song is a piece to the puzzle. The way it was recorded truly feels like you are being taken somewhere else. Fatal, In the Moonlight, and Sad should have made it on.

I'll echo this as well. I'll go to my grave saying that the Binaural sessions were the most creative and productive period since the original band sessions piecing Ten together. The album tracks plus the known Lost Dogs and leaked outrakes show a band really hitting a stride. We can (and will) argue until the end of time about how the final Binaural release should have been mixed and what should have made the record, but I think this was a genius period for the band as songwriters. Ed was on his game as a guitar riff maker on his own, Stone and Jeff were writing beautiful melodies and lyrics, Ed's lyrics were deep, Matt found a groove in the band and obviously Mike went insane on several tracks.october22 said:

Such a great piece of art from the band.0 -

+1!Abe Froman said:NO CODE. No brainer for me. Everything about this record is perfect. The artwork, lyrics, music, packaging...man I love it. Favorite record of all time.
Just to add: my first live PJ show was No Code euro tour 1996

Ten, Vs, and Yield have always been the cream of the crop to me. The order might change from day to day but those albums are always one, two, and three.___________________________________________

Thanks for the lesson all (sarcasm for "no shit") - no need to take things so literally. Ten will always be "best" in my opinion, as this is the album that resonated with me and started my PJ addictionFt.
