Bob Marley - Where To Start?

Hi, I am wanting to check out Bob Marley.
Not sure which albums to start with.
I have started with African Herbsman. I think it's good. I love Small Axe.

    Bob Marley and the Wailers-Live! is just about as good as you can get. Live Forever (Stanley Theater, Pittsburgh, 9/23/80) is an interesting listen as it was his last performance and most of the band knew it. It was after his diagnosis and he was going down hill fast.

    I'd suggest sticking with the albums they made while he was still in the band, because there's scores of albums where they used his name but he was already dead and therefore didn't contribute.

    My favorites are prob
    Kaya
    Babylon by bus
    Catch a fire
    Live


    And if you're really looking for a newbie entry level lp, get Legend of course. But do your research, there's so many versions I'm sure some sound much better than others on wax.

    I have Live at the Roxy from 1976 on 2CD and it's incredible

    I'm hooked on the African Herbsman compilation. Early reggae. Nice summer driving music.

    Good start with African herbsman. If u want that early wailers sound with peter tosh and bunny wailer I recommend Burnin & Catch a fire. Afterwards my favourites are Rastaman Vibration and my all time favourite Survival...just a masterpiece. For a inside look into the legend the documentary 'Marley' is one of the best music docs out there. Happy chillin:)
