For people familiar with The Gorge setup. I know we are getting our hopes up but is it even possible to have a Pearl Jam show Friday Sep 1st and Saturday Sep 2nd and clear out in enough time for the GNR concert on the 3rd?

Yah When PJ played there in 2005, Tom Petty played the next day.

I wonder how the Gorge does it though. GNR has their own stage setup that's intended for stadiums (with little buts sticking out in the middle in the sides to walk out on). The Gorge stage always seems to be the same. It's also the smallest venue they're playing. The only non-stadium show (I think). If every band uses the same stage, it should be pretty easy to swap out gear from one band to the next.

The bigger problem is camping...how do you get all the PJ campers out on SUN morning and then allow the GNR campers in? I assume there's camping for GNR?

if that happened I would imagine a large percentage would attend shows by both bands. I know I would.

I thought the seat map for Century link field looked pretty bleak last year (ie lots of unsold tickets) but that looks pretty rough for the gorge. Given the price they charge for tickets (250 USD for good ones) I was surprised to see them play the Seattle area twice in a row. I know I didn't want to pay that price again decided not to go to Vancouver.

The Gorge is such a pain in the ass to get to im surprised everybody doesn't struggle to sell tickets there... probably why PJ has ignored it for most of their career

I think they've ignored it since 06 because they decided to play during the hottest time of the year at the end of the last LONG tour.

It's a pain getting out of that place, and hotels are a bit away...but you can't ignore the scenery. The place is amazing.

It's not that much of a pain in the ass. It's 2.5 to 3 hours driving down an interstate. All it takes is time :) The positives are the hotels in Ellensburg and Moses Lake are much cheaper than downtown Seattle :).

I already travel 3.5 hours to see shows in Vancouver (Driving/Ferry/Driving) and about 5 for Seattle (Driving/Ferry/Driving). What's another 2.5 hours? lol. Same reason I went to Pemberton this summer. It's only a few hours extra driving than I'd usually do.

Gorge never really has a tough time selling tickets. The gorge is a seattle venue. That's it's target audience. It's not like bands play downtown seattle and then the gorge the next day. If you want to see your band, and they're playing the gorge, you have to travel. I think it's worth it. Best venue I've been too.

I'm still not sure PJ will play there this year. They don't seem to play the Seattle area often, so if they do, I don't expect a new album anytime soon. Otherwise they'd have to come back and play Seattle again :)

  • Totally worth it once you get there.

  • I go to the DMB every year. We stay in Wenatchee. It's 30 mins there and 30 mins back to the venue.

Would love to have a 2-3 night stay by PJ.

I've been to the Gorge... but there is no denying a venue 3 hours away from Seattle in the middle of literally knowhere is a bit of a pain in the ass to get to, especially for a travelling fan base. When I went out in 2005 literally nobody I talked to was from Seattle, including myself.

The band has some feelings about this.
