Joe Strummer died on this day (December 22) in 2002

I still remember buying London Calling back in 1980 when I was a youngin'. That album helped shape my musical tastes and changed my life forever.

I really can't believe it's been 14yrs. Next year will be quite a year for memorials, with the 15th anniversary of Joe's passing and 20th anniversary of Jeff Buckley's. I hope there are some special programs or a series of local shows with artists doing covers... that would be so cool.
Here is a brilliant story that was told by 2 of Joe's cousins at his funeral 14yrs ago (you probably already know Joe's birth name was John):
"The cousins said their mom told them so many stories about "Little Johnny", how he was always looking for trouble but was also so open about getting up to mischief, everyone loved him. So Little Johnny was about 7 or 8, up visiting family in Scotland, and his aunt was letting all the cousins run out and play and as she let them all out the door she said "You can go anywhere you want, and play on anything, just be sure you stay AWAY FROM THE BARN!" And as she closed the door and they all ran away, she heard Little Johnny say in a low voice "Which way's the barn?" Once a rebel, always a rebel... and he was a rebel from Day 1!!"0 -
This release is coming out.

That would be Joe all the way, a glorified *REBEL*......Hard to believe he passed away so long ago. One of those bands The Clash I regret never seeing them live in concert.JH6056 said:I really can't believe it's been 14yrs. There is a lot of amazing Clash live footage, especially considering most of it was shot way before everyone had cellphones shooting video at concerts. There is a Japanese show that is amazing, and also some footage from the Bonds shows that's great.g under p said:

And if you've never watched either "Westway to the World" (Clash documentary) or "The Future Is Unwritten" (Strummer doc), watch them, they're both BRILLIANT and Westway especially has good live clips. I bet both are on youtube...0
