I guess we know where Matt will be - maybe recording the new album will be wrapped up by then?

Soundgarden and Metallica are the co-headliners, lots of other great bands on the lineup, too (including Primus, Gojira, and Thrice).

Also, the Rock on the Range presale (Password: RANGE17) and 99.7 The Blitz (Password: BLITZRANGE) presale are going on now here: http://www.ticketmaster.com/event/05005170EFB26ED6

Tickets are specially discounted for the presales at $199.50 for GA Field passes, $99.50 for GA Stadium, and $380 GA Stadium four-pack of tickets (prices exclude fees).

One of the band's social media profiles (I think their Instagram) posted a photo of them in the studio about a month ago, so I think it's safe to say a 2017 album is imminent. Hopefully this ROTR announcement is a precursor to a full-blown tour in 2017.
  • they have 12 songs demoed. according to kim thayil in rolling stone. he also said that Matt has PJ committments.
Your boos mean nothing to me, for I have seen what makes you cheer

Me too - bought 2 Stadium GA tix for a friend of mine who lives in Columbus as a Christams gift! I'm from Ohio originally but live in California now, so I'm unsure if I can make it out to Columbus that weekend.

Do you have Field GA or Stadium GA tickets?

You'll love it - it's a great festival. I went in 2013 when Soundgarden, Smashing Pumpkins and Alice in Chains co-headlined. Awesome times.

    How do you like Columbus?

    Thanks, looking forward to it.

Columbus is great, we are very pleasantly surprised having never spent any time in the mid west at all before. Living close by the zoo helps with having an almost 2 year old, but life in general seems much easier than living in a big city.

Let's hope Matt Cameron is playing with them. They've played quite a few shows with Matt Chamberlain filling in

You have field GA which allow you to go anywhere. Or you have Stadium GA that only allow you in the seated sections but not on the field.

That seems crazy for GA seating....have you been there before with this seating?

No, but I have seen this done in other stadiums with a similar festival set up.

I had GA Stadium seating tickets for Rock On The Range 2013 when Soundgarden and Alice In Chains played. The seating configuration works really well, actually - plenty of freedom to move about and watch the show in both the main stage area in the stadium as well as the festival area outside of the stadium with the side stage bands and vendors. There's even a stand-up comedy tent.

The stadium seating didn't fill up completely until Soundgarden came on (they headlined), so one is able to move about freely and change one's seat / view as many times as desired prior to the headliner.

The first two sections perpendicular to the stage on stage left and stage right fill up soon after the gates open (as well as some of the rows of seats close to the field in most of the sections), so if you want to watch the show from there, I suggest you get there before or very soon after gates open to grab those spots.

In general, people are cool and respectful if you want to save seats for other friends or have friends save seats for you as those in your group leave the seats to watch the bands on the other stages, grab food and drink, use the bathroom, etc. (i.e. you don't have to have everyone in your group guarding your seats the entire show - I didn't encounter any situations of people "stealing" seats from others).

Keep in mind it's probably 90% bleacher seating in the stadium (i.e. no individual stadium seats or division between seats, just benches with backs). It's a Major League Soccer-specific stadium that holds about 40K - 45K for Rock On The Range.

If you can make it out to Rock On The Range, I highly recommend you go. It's one of the best-run festivals in the country, with lots of great bands and not an overwhelming quantity of festival attendees like most large scale festivals.

I wouldn't rule out Metallica for 'Roo. either. They headlined in 2008.
