If we're splitting hairs, "Of the Earth" isn't from the Lightning Bolt sessions, neither were the two not to be named songs and "Olè" was (I think) from Backspacer sessions.
Then again I'm diagnosed OCD and maybe the only one who cares.

I didn't really get the comments of those songs being on there either. they wouldn't fit.

They should release an Of The Earth EP, with every studio attempt they've made to record it. Maybe it would be a full length. I wonder how many times they've tried it?
I'm almost certain I've read it was tracked during both the self titled album and Backspacer sessions.

I'd leave Sirens off. Wish is would've been buried in Anarctica. Fine with everything else the way it is.

'Off the earth' was recording during both the S/T and Backspacer sessions. Brendan O'Brien said it was not tried in the Lightning Bolt sessions. He also said that 'Pendulum' was recorded during Backspacer sessions. Olé was recorded at the first LB sessions. Both 'Cold Concession' and 'Let it Ride' were only recorded during S/T sessions and with a different producer. So, Olé is definately a LB outtake. 'Off the Earth' was also recorded with Brendan for Backspacer, and like 'Pendulum' should have been on LB :)

Let The Records Play is just an awful awful song

Gotta say, it's one of my least-favourite Pearl Jam songs of all-time.

I often listen to my own pared-down version of LB which consists of the following:

    1) "Swallowed Whole"
    2) "Getaway"
    3) "My Father's Son"
    4) "Yellow Moon"
    5) "Infallible"
    6) "Pendulum"
    7) "Sleeping By Myself"

if future days and sirens weren't on it, i'd love it.

I could also do without LTRP. It's pretty bad. And SBM doesn't fit in. But without those four, if they were replaced by four good songs that fit the overall feel better, it would be a really good album. Lol, so basically change 1/3 of it. ;)
It is just stunning that after 4 years SBM, Future Days, and LTRP made an album. Not a fan of Sirens but can't argue with the popularity amongst the masses.

I force myself to listen to LTRP and SBM if it ever comes up during the shuffle.
Those songs are like most of Riot Act minus Green Disease.
Pearl Jam has been around too long to experiment w/ their fans.
    Sirens is great.

False. Pearl Jam has been around too long to get lazy and complacent with their fans. More experimentation, please.

it's not when they were recorded. they are completely different stylistically than anything off LB. flow matters on a record.

LTRP has 'b-side' all over it. Just like 'black, red, yellow', 'U' or 'Leatherman', songs I all like better then LTRP ;). Future Days is just ok. SBM is actually a lovely song, but I prefer the uke version by a mile. And even if I kinda like the full band version it's still out of place on LB.

  • My Fathers Son sounds so strained.

Would have worked better in 1994, with Eddies vocals from that era.

    (Sirens is a great song)

Allways forget that Future Days exist. Just Breathe, The End and Future Days should have been released on its own EP. "Pearl Jam: The cheese sessions".

Sleeping by myself is a great song, on Eddies solo record. Adding those weird drums on it and stuff, naw, don't understand why it was included.
