Yeah, nothing nefarious about this at all... but it's a shame it happened, given Trump's new slogan. All the conspiracy idiots will run with it.
I think maybe the US should do away with voting machines. Things just go wrong. Go back the good old paper ballot and marking it with a check or an X with a pencil or pen. With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be careful. Strive to be happy. ~ Desiderata0 -
Do you think all of the machines have been notified of the problem? ***wink, wink***Gern Blansten said:They were notified of a problem and dealt with it.

The testing that all of these machines go through in Illinois is nothing short of intense. I've been a part of it many times over the years. It's the most repetitive, mind numbing process imaginable.
Calibration errors, while not common, are easily fixed. There's nothing nefarious to this story from two years ago.0 -
"After Trump made the slogan “America First”—a phrase used by a handful of proto-fascists who opposed war with Germany in the 1930s and ’40s—a centerpiece of his campaign, he eventually said he didn’t care about the historical roots of the term. “Drain the swamp,” too, is loaded down with the weight of its history: What Trump probably doesn’t realize is that the phrase “drain the swamp” actually has a long history in socialist organizing. That’s right, pinkos."PJ_Soul said:Yeah, nothing nefarious about this at all... but it's a shame it happened, given Trump's new slogan. All the conspiracy idiots will run with it.

I always have appreciated your recommendations of books that remind you of something when you read a post.
This book has been on my shelf for many years and to read it takes time but has always been worth it.

Left Luggage by C. Northcote Parkinson.
I like those old Penguin Publications. I'll have to dig around and see if I can find a copy and check it out.
And that title- intriguing! Is it a book about luggage that got left behind? Is it about the action itself, of leaving the luggage? Is it a book about the remaining individuals of an endangered baggage species? Or this- an examination of the hangups of members of the politically left? In any case, sounds fascinating!"It's a sad and beautiful world"-Roberto Benigni0
