I wasn't selected for NLDS tickets. That's fine, but they better win so I have a chance at a future round!

I wasn't selected either. I have my hotel booked for October 29th and 30th anyway. Here's hoping for World Series tickets so I can attend games 4 and 5.

Just to be there in Wrigleyville will do just fine though.
  • If the current state make it to the world series, I will be in Chicago for game 4-7. I don't care that I won't be able to afford tickets. I just, want to be on the north side when, the cubs when it all. That will be an experience thathat only the birth of my children can compare to

Yup should it happen it'd be 3rd best day of my life.
    1A. Wedding
    1B. Birth of son
    3. Cubs

Can't think of anything in life other than my family or friends I've willingly given so much of my time or money to. Yes work and school may have consumed a lot of time, but those are out of necessity. 162 gms a yr that I've watched or listened to at a minimum 75% of them. I don't go to as many gms as I used to since being married but at least get to 1 at Wrigley and 2 or 3 in Milwaukee. Back in my mid 20s Id go to at least 10 gms at Wrigley a yr and every gm in Milwaukee. Then add in all the time spent reading articles about them or discussing them with friends who are also fans. The time and money I've invested in this team in my 36+ yrs of life would easily make it the 3rd best day of my life.

I will definitely be in Wrigleyville if we make it to the WS, even if I don't get in the stadium.

I've made the deal with my wife that I'll be there once there's a clinching game in the WS. Also didn't get selected for NLDS tickets. Not worried. We have bigger fish to fry.

Justin Grimm has worn his fucking welcome out. I don't want to see him on the mound the rest of the season.

That's the story within the story, in my mind. McLeod has done a tremendous job and Hoyer obviously has a great working relationship with Theo. Great news.

    Fuckin Arrieta, dammit!

The buccos were bound to hit this guy at some point. His numbers have been ridiculous against them. He just needs to not hang that pitch in a couple of weeks.

  • Huge Giants fan here, been thinking for a while the Giants have to be the one team the Cubs don't want to see in the NLDS. Finally spoke to the biggest Cubs fan I know today and he feels the same. For as much of a mess as the Giants have been in the 2nd half they still have 4 very good SP's and a huge amount of successful playoff experience. The 4 game series in early September were all games that could have gone either way. Cards or Mets don't have the starting pitching to go head to head with the Cubs. I think the Cubs would be and deserve to be huge favorites if this series ever came about. Superior hitting and bullpen and a slight advantage in starting pitching. Anyway I'll be pulling for you guys minus a Giants series. I predict we do face off and the Cubs win a 5 game series for the ages and the experience of beating the Giants propels them to a WS title. The Giants are still scary but have major issues that I couldn't image then fixing in a few weeks. Still think it would be a great series though, a little '89 rematch.

I agree with you. I'm more scared of the giants than probably any other team, now that Wilson Ramos is out for the Nats. It's big to probably avoid seeing Bumgardner in game 1, given he'd have to pitch the play in game.

And yes, we still owe you for Will Clark's series in 89.

It would be a classic series. The ballparks alone would make the series watchable. The best NL team of the 1st half of this decade vs the team that is likely to the best of the 2nd half. You guys would flatten the Mets or the Cards. Hope I'm wrong but I don't think the Nats get by the Dodgers. I also don't think there is an AL team that could beat the Cubs. None have good enough starting pitching and you can't slug your way through October. Just ask Toronto last year. Kansas City was such a unique team with their speed and great bullpen, there isn't an AL team with those strengths this season. They all hit for power, have two quality starting pitchers and good but not great bullpens.

What do you guys think the playoff rotation should be? At this point, I'd like to see:
1-Lester (arguably best pitcher on the team this season, 2x WS champion)
    2-Lackey (2x WS champion)
3-Hendricks (arguably 2nd best pitcher on the team)
    4-Arrieta ("Mr. Five Innings 2016")

Sorry Hammel, you're coming out of the pen.

I think we have to go with what's worked all season, while playing the match-ups. If it's a lefty heavy team, I say we go Lester in game 1. If it's more righty, we go Hendricks. I'm torn at the 3 spot because we know what Jake can do when he's on. I say you go a 2 headed monster in the 3 spot, starting Jake, and if he's got his can't throw a strike, walking too many hitters thing, then you come in with Lackey. Something just tells me that Jake is going to be on this postseason.

I hope so. Perhaps understanding the rest of these games are utterly meaningless, he was just out there going through the motions last night. Although, outside of maybe 5-6 games, he has struggled all season long getting past the 5th.
