Jim James Live Shows

Has anyone else seen a Jim James solo show? I saw him last night here in Madison, and it was a weird vibe. He and his band are defintely talented, and I was surprised he never introduced his band or really interacted with the audience. He was probably 75% of the way through his set before he ever said "hello".
Just wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience?

He played the majority, if not all of his album, last night in addition to 1 MMJ and 1 Monsters of Folk song. I was fine with the setlist, I just got the vibe that the show was more about him, especially when he played 3+songs with a towel over his head.Nashville-00

Well it was a jim james show. Definitely nothing like mmj imo. He is pretty eccentric though and does do some weird stuff while on stage. I saw him in milwaukee by the way and don't remember him introducing his band eitherAlpine Valley East Troy WI 1998...United Center Chicago IL1998...All State Arena Rosemont IL 2000 (anybody have a spare poster)

I was at his show in Chicago earlier this year and I think he introduced his band. He did not say much but put on an awesome show0

i saw the solo show 4 or 5 times and he didn't talk much. he did introduce the band and do two solo mmj songs every time. usually wonderful, golden, bermuda or be there when you die. This show, another show, a show here and a show there.0

Jim James is playing Jimmy Kimmel on Monday, Sept 16th, FYI. 8-)With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be careful. Strive to be happy. ~ Desiderata0

Not happy that the NY show is at T5.
"McCready played on, lending credence to the theory that he was actually built in Stone’s basement from spare truck parts and vinyl records." - Glide Mag. review of MSG 7/8/030 -

He hasn't been speaking much the past few years, even at MMJ shows. I think he talked for about a minute throughout both Red Rocks shows this year. And usually just a hello and thanks at the others I've seen lately.
No need to go full Ed but I do wish he would interact a bit more“I know this song so well, I can smoke a cigarette, have a drink, brush my teeth, take a shit, and mow the lawn while singing it. But I'll only be doing a couple of those things during this version.”0 -
