I love Ghost but my brother who was a Wilco fan before I was isn't a fan. He pretty much has stopped at YHF, too. Handshake Drugs is one of my favorite songs live plus I've just always had an affinity for it considering everything Jeff went through recording it and also after the release.reesdog said:
I've listened to it just the once so far on vinyl, I liked it, not as good as Star Wars (that's a great little record that) but, sounded pretty good. Quite mellow, perfect Sunday morning record I'd say..PJ_Soul said:Kay, managed to listen to it a few times now.... To be honest, it's boring the shit out of me. To be fair, I hold every other Wilco album up to Yankee Hotel Foxtrot, and they have never even come close to making another album that good IMO. So really I'm not so much a Wilco fan. I'm just a YHF fan, lol (Actually Star Wars is also pretty good). But even by "not-YHF" standards I think Schmilco is boring. Although it's got one thing going for it: there isn't a hint of country. That I like. So I don't hate it or anything.... it's just bland for me. I doubt I will ever choose to listen to it again.
Didn't you like A Ghost Is Born PJ_Soul?? That's their best imo, so many great tunes on that one!I'm through with screaming0 -
I actually am not really familiar with A Ghost is Born. Listening now. Good stuff.
I guess I got to the point where Wilco was more miss than hit with a lot of their catalogue, so at some point I stopped trying that hard, so I kind of missed this album in my Wilco deliberations, ha.

you guys really need to give sky blue sky some time on the turntable
its fantastic and my fav since YHF0 -
I like SBS ok. It's the last Wilco record I've listened to on a consistent basis. Side with the Seeds is great and I love Walken live. I can't with Impossible Germany, though. I know a ton of people love it but it's my bathroom break song.I'm through with screaming0

It took me a few listens to find my way in but I can happily say I love the new record. On the face of it it seems straight forward and can easily become background music, but once I got it on headphones without distractions it's full of subtlety and complexity. Sound huge of vinyl too, Spotify won't do it justice0

What is with all the warped records everyone is getting lately?? I have never seen so many reports of warping as I have in the last couple of weeks, from various artists. I've never seen this be such a widespread issue before. With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be careful. Strive to be happy. ~ Desiderata0

I find that Sky Blue Sky has a bit too much of a country twang to a lot of it, which I don't like. It has a few cool songs though.Get_Right said:you guys really need to give sky blue sky some time on the turntable

I just can't get into the new record. I love Wilco, and I have only listened to it all the way through 3 times, but they usually jump right out at me. Cry All Day is probably the closest thing to one that I remember, the rest just sort of passed me by.
It's never taken me this long to 'get' a Wilco record before... :(“Do not postpone happiness”

Same here. Saddens me to say as a Wilco fan of about 15 years. I'll just be over here in the corner listening to Being There and the Mermaid Avenue records.goldrush said:I just can't get into the new record. I finally got to spin the new Wilco record last night. It's not bad, fairly chill but there is one on there that I'm a big fan of already called Someone To Lose, the guitar work makes the song. I will say the first three songs run a bit along the "poor me" vein but as an outsider in a world of normal they do make sense to me.Anything you lose from being honest
You never really had to begin with.
Sometimes it's not the song that makes you emotional it's the people and things that come to your mind when you hear it.0 -
Quick and Dirty first impression of my black vinyl copy of Wilco - Schmilco
It's a pleasure to listen to a well-mastered and pressed record. Good use of the vinyl medium.
Some of the new releases now-a-days sound shitty(poor mastering) and come warped(poor quality control). If I pay 20+ for a record, it better not pop and crack.
The music is good but not upper-tier Wilco. Super chill vibe, sometimes it's good to have that in your life. A solid Wilco record, which in most cases is better than most.Post edited by buck502000 on0 -

Happy 20th to Being There! I was still obsessed with PJ at that moment in time so I didn't discover the album until about 5 years later and now it's one of my fave albums of all time.I'm through with screaming0

saw them open for Cracker very early on when the album came out..... they were a rag tag bunch back then.tweedyfanjen said:Happy 20th to Being There!
