Has anyone ever framed 2 posters in one frame?
  • I have 3 or 4 posters that I'd really like to frame. Are there any decent "cheap" options? As in not hundreds of dollars? The thought of spending $200 to frame a $35 poster is crazier to me than waiting in line 5hrs for said poster.

I guess it's just a matter of personal taste and preference. I mean, I want it to look good. But not at that cost.

I found a smaller shop that will use a pre made frame and add in matting for around $125-135. Simple thin wood frame. Thats how I've done most of mine.

I've also bought Groupons for some nicer shops. Went with pretty much the same set up. The pre made frame is thicker and a little nicer. Those ones ran around $200 (without the groupon).....out of pocket maybe $125-150ish. Framing aint cheap. I wish i paid more attention in wood shop and had the skills to do it on my own!

Looks pretty sweet. Are the guy's name on the scoreboard that close to the edge of poster? It seems a shame that almost the 1st letter of their name has been cut off by the matte.

I've had luck with the Hobby Lobby. I was surprised with how professional everything turned out. Bought this frame during the half-off sale which is bi-weekly. Frame was $27. The mats are $20 each but you can use a 40% off coupon for one. Total cost was right around $60. They also wired up the back for hanging. They reverse beveled the orange mat so the white core didnt show. I'm not sure if i want to keep the orange mat or not. Do you think it detracts from the print image? I was considering just doing a single black mat. What do you think?

That's the best looking frame job I've seen on that poster. It's perfect the way it is.

Yup, the first letter of each name is missing or incomplete on the print. Seems a little funny, but probably gives it a more realistic look.

They're cut off on the print, that's how Steve did the print, nothing to do with matting or framing.

MSG 1 2016 was my first PJ show (better late than never, and what a 1st show/setlist/venue!), so I got the artist signed copy. Wood frame with black and maroon velvet matte (thanks to an earlier post for the velvet matte idea). The vintage look and Millenium Owl's detail are amazing. I had the back framed up to show the original sketch and artist comments with the show sticker and artist sticker. I'm in the SF Bay Area, and Artscapes/Young Framing does exceptional, museum quality work for vintage posters and concert posters. No, I do not work for them, but really cool peeps who do amazing work (I've also had 2 vintage advertisement posters done). They are not cheap, but their quality, detail, and suggestions/guidance are exceptional.

The MSG 2 was a gift to my brother-in-law for Father's Day as he was the guy who invited me to NYC for the shows.

I also bought the 2016 Ft. Lauderdale poster (wave woman) although I didn't go to that show. I couldn't resist the image and colors (my wife thinks I'm nuts). I will post that once it's done.

If you buy a cheap frame from Michaels you can order custom cut sheets of OP3 Archival plastic (99% UV protection) to replace the Michaels crappy plastic with from www.TapPlastics.com

It'll probably run you $40-50 or so

Any idea what keywords I should Google to try to find a shop like this around my house?
    https://www.acrylite-shop.com/US/us/acrylite-/uv-filtering-4cwm53qqtdu.html?expa=acrylitenet.uvfilteringpage

Looks like this page has some of what Redrumh2o is talking about. But I'm not entirely sure. If you figure it out, let me know! :) Doesn't appear to be too expensive.

edit......sorry, didn't see that you were asking for a specific shop. And redrhumh2o already gave a website.
The link redrhumh20 gave is in the west coast.

Anyone have a good lead on 18x24 frames for all the Wrigley/Fenway posters? Simple black frames with UV and acid-free materials. Don't want to drop $$$ on 6 tour posters.

Or if someone knows of a decent framer in Chicago, let me know.

The Wishlist Foundation sells cool little books with plastic sleeves to slide the ticket stubs in.

Yes, excellent question. I currently have 2 18x24 posters I want to frame without spending a fortune on custom frames. I strolled thru hobby lobby and michaels the other day but as far as I saw it was just cheap frames with plastic glazing. Can I find a frame with UV glass big enough to fit a 1-2" matte I could have them cut?

I know this has been asked before but need recommendations for what color mat and frame to use for my Thomas poster with tickets and patch. May even go with wood frame to give it that ol' school feel.

Here is what I recommend if you are looking to frame yourself. I have yet to frame a poster, but I have framed a lot of comic art and signed sports photos using these products

1 - Cheap frame from Amazon or Michaels (w/ 40% off coupon)
    2 - Archival mat & backboard from here: matboardandmore.com/
3 - Swap out the standard glass/plastic with OP-3 acrylic from here: tapplastics.com/product/plastics/cut_to_size_plastic/acrylic_sheets_op3_uv_filtering/512

If you have more than one poster you will be framing, order stuff together to save on shipping.

    OR

If you have the opportunity to buy 2 posters at retail prices.....keep one in a portfolio/file and frame the other one in a standard frame/mat so if it does get faded....no biggie!!

I'm interested to see this too. I think the bright blue paper makes this poster a tougher one to find a good color for matting.

Here is what i have done with some of my posters so far. Nothing fancy, but it gets the job done. Sorry about all the bad angles... only way to keep the glare down. I have 2 posters from Boston and i'm thinking about doing something custom with at least one of them with the tickets and stickers and all.
