As usual, the recent custom framing samples all look terrific. There are two different and great examples of framing jobs done using the cancelled show's artwork on page 284 and page 285. How were you guys/girls able to get your ticket stubs signed by all the band members?

How do you guys flatten your posters? I have a portfolio book where I keep them but the ends still sightly curl. I tried putting one in a tight frame for a few months and afterwards it still wasn't totally flat.

You need to get it out of the tube asap

    ^^^THIS^^^
Once it's out of the tube...
let it rest on the table for a day or two.
If your poster hasn't been in a tube long,
it should start to flatten a little on it's own.
Place a piece of kraft paper on the table and gently unroll the poster.
I usually start flattening my posters by putting the poster face down on top of the kraft paper,
and placing a few print weights on the back.
These weights don't have to be on the corners...
I place them where the "rolls" are the most prominent,
this helps get the poster nice and flat!
Let the poster sit overnight with the weights in place.
The next morning, turn it over and put the weights on the front side of the poster.
Repeat this cycle until the poster is flat !!

What do you guys use to keep them flat and store them for the short term...until I get the cash to frame one? I don't need a portfolio or anything, because I do plan on framing them within weeks/months. Anything cheap just to keep them flat and protected?

The band signed some of the tickets when Ten Club members wrote in asking for their unused tickets from the cancelled Raleigh show. It was all 'luck-o-the-draw'...

I use one of the foam core display boards:

Did anybody frame the EMEK philly 2016 print with a blue matte?

I did, it's like a navy blue to match the back of the inside of the door they're standing in. I like it a lot. The lady at hobby lobby who was actually very good, initially had it double matted with an orange matte under the blue. I decided against it to save some cash, but it looked great.
Cool, thanks! Any chance you could post a pic?

I use this as well. I just use craft paper to separate them so the ink doesnt transfer between the posters. I keep it in there for two days with weights on the top. One day for each side.

Thanks guys. When the framer and I were discussing which frame to use, as soon as he pull that one out, I knew it was the right choice. I was thinking about using glass on the back to read the message, but was already spending almost 10X on the frame as I did the poster so decided against it. He did copy the message on the back of the poster before matting and it's in a sleeve on the back of the frame if I ever want to read it again.

I have 3 or 4 posters that I'd really like to frame. Are there any decent "cheap" options? As in not hundreds of dollars? The thought of spending $200 to frame a $35 poster is crazier to me than waiting in line 5hrs for said poster.

I guess it's just a matter of personal taste and preference. I mean, I want it to look good. But not at that cost.

You can frame as cheap as you want. Wait for a coupon from Michael's or where ever and buy a cheap frame with plastic instead of glass with a cheap non acid-free matte. $20. But it will not protect the poster from damage from the plastic, a cheap matte or sunlight.

Most of us feel that these are not just concert posters but pieces of art and we therefore choose to treat them that way. Does it cost a lot? Sure. But they will last a lifetime.

    Just my 2 cents.

I totally understand and respect that view. And for a couple of mine, I wouldn't mind spending a little extra to protect them. Guess I just have to prioritize which ones get the special treatment :)
