Fantastic show and experience. Had nice seats via original 10C ticket lottery in B5. I thought the sound was great on the field. Slow time getting off the field going left of the stage up the stairs, but people were nice, so it's all good. So happy that I made the drive down from Toronto. Enjoy the show on Sunday everyone - be safe.
  • How was the tenclub line getting tickets? I was there yesterday (but got stubhub seats for that one) but was in too much of a rush to scope it out, I'm getting tenclub tickets for sundays show, just curious if it really is worth getting there by 4pm to get in line. Two and a half hour drive for me, or I would have gotten them today.
  • I've been reflecting all morning about how incredible last night was. This one was special to me for many reasons...

First and foremost it was my birthday, the big 3-0, really couldn't ask for a better way to spend it.

Second, this was at Fenway Park--fucking FENWAY PARK!! Are you kidding me?!?! I've been coming to this ballpark at least once a year for the past 20 something years of my life. Every time I step foot in this park it's like a religious experience for me, this is MY church. To see my favorite band play here on my birthday and on an absolutely gorgeous night was just the greatest experience ever.

Third thing, my father passed away shortly after the Worcester shows in 2013 and listening to the Worcester 1 bootleg with Release=>Long Road plus Man of the Hour is always very tough for me. PJ again with the Release=>Long Road 1-2 punch last night was incredibly emotional. I'm sure everyone around me was wondering why this grownass man next to them is sobbing like a little kid but I couldnt care less. It's amazing how music can have this effect on people. It was great they play I've Got a Feeling for Matt, I'm sure he was feeling the love all night.

Fourth, final and much less emotional, I had SO MANY first time songs at this, my 4th PJ show (all four have been New England shows). Aside from all the incredible rarities and covers everyone has already mentioned, this was my first time hearing staples that I'm sure most of you have heard numerous times--Given to Fly, I Am Mine, Faithful (my fucking JAM!), Black, Down, Life Wasted, Grievence--so pumped to have finally been able to belt these out!

Overall last night really couldn't have been any better. My wife and I were in Field Box 80 with a bunch of other 10clubbers, everyone was having a blast and very respectful to each other.

Just a side note, I'm curious if anyone else near us noticed the audio not being particularly great/consistant or if it was just me. We were on McCreadys side literally directly inline with the massive stack of speakers on that side of the stage that were angled out. Most of the show it sounded like instruments would just come in and out or drown other ones out at other points ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I'm not going Sunday but I hope it is just as memorable for those attending. Cheers!

I was in grandstand 25 and the sound was pretty decent but as the show progressed either my ears were just going or it just started to get garbled. Could have just been my ears.

The sound in the grandstand seats sucked. Whenever Ed spoke it sound like the adults in Charlie Brown. Have similar (shitty) tix for Sunday but seriously considering skipping town early.

lol, was the same for me, couldnt hear what the hell he was saying.

If your complaining about this show then I just don't know what to tell you, maybe you've seen too many shows? There could be worse things to be doing on a perfect Friday night then spending time w/ 40,000 PJ fans in one of America's true shrines listening to the glorious sounds of these 5/6 men! You know there was only one perfect human that walked this planet and they crucified him, so complain away but, I truly feel sorry for the people that do! This board, wow pretty laughable!!

I'll speak for myself, but I really think I,speak for others, no one is complaining about this great concert, but not every show can be the best show ever. That's just impossible. This was not the best show ever. this was a really good pj show with some flow issues and a few too many covers.

Also no offense but Bronson arroyo was probably the worst musical guest I've seen ever brought out for any show. A mediocre red sock and an even more mediocre musician.

Who said it was the best show ever? Who said Bronson Arroyo was the best musical guest?? Too many covers? They still played 25 PJ originals or basically more then 99% of most bands entire set-lists! Of a list that you could make of 100 things to look for at a special concert, this is what you choose to look for? Weird???

Was a top 3 show for me. First off, HUGE thanks to my friend John for letting me be his second ticket from his 10club contest winnings! Met some really cool fans, ate some food, drank some beers, and had plenty of room to jump around and dance. Was an amazing experience.

Got to hang out with Tim Bierman before the show started. GREAT guy! Was very engaging and easy to talk to.

As for sound, I was shocked on how good the sound was. Being a huge baseball stadium, I was expecting echo and muddled sound. Someone said they were on Mike’s side, in front of the angled side speakers, and it sounded horrible. That is exactly where we were in Hampton VA and it sounded just as bad as you described. Maybe the speaker stack has issues?

Enjoyed the rare songs, the covers, and even the hits. Tons of great moments but the personal highlights for me were:

    - Hanging out in the 10 club suite was amazing
    - Version of Black was great
    - Love the slow start with GTF used as a great transition song into the fast section
    - The new arrangement to Masters of War was AMAZING
    - Strangest Tribe!!
    - Encore 2 was fantastic. Kept wanting to sing the Den Haag ’92 version for I’ve Got a Feeling

As for merch, seems like there was a ton of it Thurs and Fri. On Thurs, they ran out of the Thompson poster when we were 15 slots away from the counter but, by the time we were 5 deep, they restocked. Felt sorry for the 15 (or so) that went thru the line while they were restocking. Seems the Thompson poster and the pin were always the first to run out (stood in line Fri to get the pin and a Thompson poster for my brother).

For everybody going on Sunday, have fun!!

it's kinda weird they have wma and abitw listed on pj.com as full songs instead of tags, Have they been doing that in the past or that just on the new site?

Who said it was the best show ever? A lot of people here
Who said Bronson Arroyo was the best musical guest?? No one, I simply remarked it was a terrible choice.
Too many covers? Yes, 9 times out of 10 I'd rather hear a pj tune than a cover
They still played 25 PJ originals or basically more then 99% of most bands entire set-lists! I only compare pearl jam to pearl jam
Of a list that you could make of 100 things to look for at a special concert, this is what you choose to look for? Weird??? That's a lot of question marks, you seem a lil angry

  • Very surprised at the number of complaints here about covers and "skinny" set. It was 30+ songs in 2:50! C'mon back to earth now! This was my 18th show and I think it'll settle into my top 5 overall. I live in the area and was very glad I got the merch stuff done earlier in the day.

I'm also SO glad they tricked us into the 6:30 preset. Imagine how late they would have started otherwise! It was my first time in Fenway, so I now understand how congested it is. What great place though! Eddie was giddy smitten with Fenway, you could just tell. The story about sneaking in long ago was just awesome. It makes total sense that they respected the curfew. I don't care much about the baseball stuff, but could tell it was special for many there which adds to the crowd's joy and overall atmosphere.

I can see why not everyone loved the slower opening, but I thought it was brilliant through the first 7. The ramp up to Given to Fly and then MYM really revved up my area in section B1. The sound was great on the turf, and I'm really bummed to hear it wasn't in the grandstands (where I'll be Sunday). I couldn't see the stage, so I was grateful for the screens and great filming. Didn't ruin the show, by any mean, but I do wish I had a better number to get a good view in 10C seats.

Strangest Vibe (WOW!) and Masters of War (WOW squared!) were my gems of the night.
Patriot (even if it was a little messy) and Society were my personal highlights.
Although I've seen it multiple times this tour, it was such a nice night/vibe for Comfortably numb.

What a wonderful summer night of perfect weather and great music! Cannot wait until Sunday!
  • Two favorite moments from last night:

    1) when Peter Gammons was acknowledged and came out real quick. Growing up in Mass, Peter is a legend and HOFer. He's also a legendary PJ fan and after years of trying to get them approved to play Fenway you have to think Peter might have had a small part in it. They played I Am Mine which is Gammons' favorite. That's for you Pete.

    2) the two dudes with the ATL Hawks Mookie jersey and old school 92 olympics Bird jersey down front. Cannot think of a better outfit for front row at the first PJ show at Fenway, the same night the Olympics opened. They were way into it and Ed threw them the mic during Porch(?). Great job

I walked by the 10C table at about 5:20pm last night. There was no line. Seemed like a breeze to get the tix. Nobody was there.

This might be my first fan view. Good for me. I agree with a lot of the posts that A) it was a great show, good time, great atmosphere and b) set list was lacking flow and slow at times. I didn't mind the slow start(I actually loved it) but the Strangest Tribe(which I enjoyed and completely appreciate..but nobody in my section knew), Society(enjoyed that too), Just Breathe(meh) and Sleeping by Myself(like, not love) foursome to start the first encore sucked some life out of the place. Life Wasted--which typically doesn't do it for me--really did it for me last night. Got the place rocking again. I can see the gripes with too many covers, but boy did I love Comfortably Numb and MOW. The hits, which typically I go through the motions for, really got me fired up tonight. Black, Porch, Corduroy, Alive...the place was electric for these songs. Special night. Also my sons first concert. He doesn't realize what a lucky lil fuck he is ;). My first show was Pearl Jam at the ole Garden April 10, 1994. Cool symmetry there.

Can't wait for night 2...I'm expecting a epic show!

I think they just list every cover as a song on this website. There's no distinguishing between a full song for a tag or teaser.

was in 144, 3rd base, about 30 rows up, just under the overhang

there were pockets of big fans getting down - my wife & I sat near 4 other folks in our immediate vicinity who were singing & dancing the whole time. But yeah, I expected it to be a little more than just "pockets" I guess. Given the rabidness for the tickets & merchandise, I thought the actual music would be seized with the same fervor. But hey to each their own, we had fun and had a good immediate crew around us who helped create our own little PJ "pit" wihout infringing on others who chose not to partake.

Really hope our 10C for Sunday come through somehow...we just re-upped last year, so hoping there's some lottery winnings in that envelope!

As far as the show...We saw Columbia SC this spring and Worcestor a couple years ago. Tough to compare as we were FAR closer to the stage those nights, but last night was superb. Really impressed with the sound & sight (thank you giant video screens!) as I expected both to be far worse.

Sat in 144 as well. Row LL. Had a great time. Danced and sang all night. You can never go wrong with a PJ show No matter what people thought of the set list or being skinny or whatever. IMO, a bad night of PJ is still better than pretty much anything else. As a die hard Yankees fan I have to give props to Fenway and the people of Boston. The park is simply amazing and made for a great setting for a PJ show. Plus we met so many great people and had some good times with some locals. Also, the Mac N' Cheese Sand which at Bar Louie is off the hook.
