Does anyone else find it strange that Sidney Crosby never has any sort of girlfriend/wife/etc?

They won the cup and his mom and dad were out there with him, while all the other players had their GFs, wife, kids, etc...

Anyways, odds are very much against a Penguins repeat. IMO they really needed to get this cup because their window is closing. Probably a couple more kicks at the can... but it is never easy.

I'm beginning to think a back to back champions would take a monumental effort from any team. No back to back champ in nearly 20 years. Detroit was the last.

RIP Mr. Hockey. Saw part of his funeral on our local tv.

He would pay a lot more in taxes in Toronto, but he could make it up with Poutine endorsement deals.

I say he goes to Detroit because that would be super rad.

The NHL just approved the Las Vegas expansion team. Will be interesting to see what a Vegas hockey game/hockey crowd is going to be like.

If he's a FA on July 1 then I give toronto the odds to land him ... a 7 year deal and knowing who your coach will be the next 7 years as well might be enticing enough, then add the number pick this year, mitch marner possibly coming in next year and now a number 1 goaltender, that might be all it takes ... and then the opportunity to play in front of hockey crazy people. Win a cup I Toronto and he's a hero.

Doesn't sound promising ... from what I've read they need to move Datsyuk contract, Ken Holland doesn't think he can without sacrificing a youngster, and he's on record as saying he will not deal a young prospect ...

I've read the asking price was Larkin or Puutinen (spelling?).

Quebec deserved a franchise before any more in the States. I think it'll be another phoenix or florida ... just a money pit.

Of course Quebec did, but there is no way the NHL is going to do an expansion team in Canada with the dollar like it is... or maybe ever again, given its consistent history of the tumbling loonie.

You are probably right ... doesn't matter to me ... the NHL sees no money from me.

I was hoping for Seattle to get an expansion team first. Vancouver wants it as much as Seattle does - maybe more, now that the Canucks are a laughing stock. It would almost be like two markets in one for Seattle. They're crazy not to take advantage of that.

True, plus a good rivalry would developed ... Seattle could be next I figure. Personally I feel the NHL has to many teams anyways...that's their problem.

^ Yeah the more teams there are the more watered down the talent gets. Which is why there are only I think like 5 or 6 guys you can count on to get 40 per year. But I mean the games have been competitive and the last few playoffs have been really good as well, I certainly don't think the game is in a rough spot right now. I'd welcome with open arms a team in Seattle

It looks like buffalo is going to give him a huge offer. I think the wings would entertain around $10M , but if Sabres are going to offer $12+, I don't see the wings matching.

^^^I think the wings have around 12 million in cap space ... out of that they have a few players of their own to get signed, and maybe Howard gets traded, however, I think Howard trade value might be better in season when somebody over pays. We will see, I'm leaning toward Toronto if he hits the open market.

They don't actually need any more expansion teams. They need to shuffle around some existing teams. Get Phoenix moved to Seattle or Quebec. Ditto with the Panthers (they are still a team, right?? lol).
