    Gawker's arrogance cost them an extra $15M. Hogan's team was praying for $100M as the best case scenario. It's was kind of amazing to see the cocoon of idealism their editors and owner were living in.

    15 million is an astronimical amount of money to my brain. if i were a juror i would have had to been made to think that gawker were astoundingly severe assholes for me to award that much.

    From what I've read, it doesn't include punitive damages. The article said the defendants are still open to punitive damages.

    Lesson Learned: Don't make jokes about child pornography in a court deposition. Jurors tend to frown on that. And show some humility, even if it's fake. You only have to do it for 10 - 15 days.

    As for Gawker, I think they are pretty much screwed. Which means Deadspin is screwed, and I liked that site.

    It's Ch 11 and he will get a portion of it not all. It's a nice little loophole meant for the rich to screw up and still recover. Well that's my take on the law...

    i don't think it is a website's responsibility to "out" anybody. gawker got what it deserves for trying to ruin people.

    i don't agree with the guy bankrolling hogan's suit out of spite, and this man clearly had an axe to grind. i guess all is fair these days.

    I don't agree with them outing people at all and they have done it numerous times. I have no problem with the hogan sex tape though.

    This guy is trying to get every person that any gawker site has criticized to sue them. He needs to be kicked off the Facebook board immediately

    If Gawker could have shown some humility instead of arrogance during the trial, I think the outcome would have been much different. Now they will are forced to sell for pennies on the dollar.

    If Gawker were actual journalists, I would have a problem with a rich man taking revenge on them, but they are just glorified TMZ bloggers with an agenda.

    I'm guilty of giving gawker clicks, but I really do enjoy deadspin and usually checkout gawker for left hot takes on current issues. Not to get into a war of words, but just to observe.

    I don't hate them, but I really hate seeing a person have whatever their lifestyle exposed without their consent, as long as they they aren't doing something despicable such as using child sex slaves. That's why I think when captain dipshit made the 4 year old Mendoza line statement ... In a court deposition none the less, well, those dipshits just signed their own death warrant.
