    I always thought of the Porch kind of like an extension to the outside of the PJ house where you can relax outside and talk PJ while all the crazy is going on in the house.

    Totally logical but I think more craziness happens here than anywhere else on the board. Remember all those threads about Ed's speech during Toronto night 2? That was like a whirlwind!

    Way back in the late '90s and early 2000s there was a poster on the Official Pearl Jam Board (then known as the Synergy BBS) whose name was PJMom. Every once in a while, she'd start a thread, inviting us to "meet her on the porch". I always thought it was a bit of a hat-tip to her.

    Didn't at one time say something like "step out on the porch to discuss the band," or something like that? I seem to recall that. If so, it's definitely referring to that line from Breath.

    What happened to PJMom? Did she get banned?
    I don't know but I'm sure not banned. We lost touch for a bit and I haven't been able to re-connect.

    8/18/2000, Indy boot, Throw Your Arms Around Me with a full moon behind them is everly interwined with her, and that time.

    always assumed it was Porch. Now that someone mentioned the line "step out on the porch", Breath makes more sense. When I first saw this thread, I thought "well, DUH". Now I'm the DUH. :rofl:

    I always saw 'stepping out on your porch... and see the world' as a metaphor for expanding your horizons. Experiencing, discussing, considering alternate points of view which either reaffirm your beliefs or make you question them. It's about coming into contact things that you normally wouldn't had you not left the house.
