Wife agreed to let a friend's 7 year old stay the night with us. He finally got tired about 11:00 tonight (his parents just let him stay up til he crashes on the weekends, so we followed suit). Oh my God. I don't have the energy for this. I don't know how parents do this full time. Wow.

Terrible weekend sleeping arrangement for a 7 year old. They need a regular sleep schedule. It's very important (according to all experts on the subject). It sucks for the adults too, lol.
Oh, I agree with you. I was a bit shocked when his mom told us that. Of course, my only other experiences keeping kids are with my nieces, but my sister has them on a tight sleep schedule, going to bed at 8:30. They only get to break bed time for special circumstances, but even then the girls are usually ready to sleep within 10-15 minutes after their normal time. I really felt like it wasn't my place to say anything, especially since I don't have kids of my own.
I feel for you. We don't visit with some friends anymore when we go to Oregon because they let their kid run the show. Everything is about her, I'd like to chat with my friend to see how she's doing, but the kid just keeps running her mouth non-stop, she doesn't have a sleep schedule, still sleeps in her parent's bed, does stuff to our dogs that I ask her to not do...and people wonder why I'm not a fan of kids.
The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences, and hence there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon, for each day to have a new and different sun.

That's tough. I hate that you had to lose contact with a friend because of that. I will say that he is well behaved, so it wasn't all bad.

Very excited for this weekend to end. No more plans, and i would rather the time go faster to get to the start of my PJ Tour vacation... Can it be Monday already, so that it can be Thursday already? dam, I think this is the first time I have ever said that.
