I am starting this because I would love to hear fan's stories of meeting member's of the band while they are on tour. I have personally only met Stone but would love to meet everyone else at some point, and get everyone else to sign the poster he did! Maybe I will get some tips on how, where, ect. Please share your experiences. Look forward to reading them!

I wish did know then my friend Izzy and I could of met them in May!!
I did met Stone, but the was while he was on tour with Brad, his other band.
I was lucky, and I had a gift for him...so it was important that I gave it to him in person in stead of just throwing it on to the stage.
I didn't want him sign anything, yet I kinda wished that I gave him my Bayleaf cd to sign.. oh well... it was that he got something instead of me wanting something from him. I will admit it, I was going to ask him for a hug or if I could hug/hold him but I didn't have to nerve to bring up.
Did want to get turned down, plus he had a lot of stuff in his one hand.

    How did you met him?
"The money flew down and stole my cracker!"

"Every time I go to the doctors I get a jacket, a straight one. It makes me feel special because I get to hug myself."

I am myself like you somehow.
I'll wait up in the dark for you to speak to me.
How I've opened up. Release me.

I met Stone with his band Brad too. They played an in-store performance in Austin, Texas at Waterloo records and signed autographs afterwards. I have a tour poster from the Yield tour and got it signed. Would love to add the others one day; I collect that kind of stuff, but always ask for them to personalize it to me so they know it won't be on ebay the next day.

I met all of them two years ago at the Impact Awards. Amazing experience and they were all (well, all but one of them and you'll have to take your guess as to which one it was) very gracious and kind. Although Ed seemed scared to death of everyone around him. Rumor was he had a stalker at the time and security was pretty tight. Oh, and Mike is easily the nicest man on the planet. He really is. Unfortunately, when I bought tickets they scared the hell out of me saying that we'd be searched before entry and if we had any type of camera whatsoever (even a camera-phone) we'd be escorted out of the hotel. So when we were talking with the band, this drunken old lady had a camera, took a couple of photos, and promised to email them to me......Never happened and now I've got just one more reason to hate old people....

Let me guess it was Stone-bones? Correct??? And you got him in a good day/night. He wasn't tried and hungry or agaitated.

He was so pleasent to be around.. plus he was tried and hungry when I met him. I didn't think that he would waited for me to approach him. He could of just slid by me and back out the side door of the venue, but he stood there and sighed. I almost didn't go to him cuz I was nevrous and a little scared.
By the way he doesn't like to hear that he scars people or maybe girls..
I thought he loves women... well I was told... Sorry I'm rambling...
He should used it to his advanage, I would but that's me.
Besides he can hold he own. Never saw he go off on anyone before. He pretty conservative in public yet stern when under attack.

Yes. "To Robert" and his name was all he put. Nothing extra. He seemed a little agitated that just about everyone there was there with Pearl Jam stuff for him to sign but hey, it's not our fault he is a member of one of our favorite bands.

Okay, yeah, it was Stone....he was clearly not in the mood to meet any fans, which I guess is understandable. But I wouldn't have thought he was an ass if he wouldn't have sped out of the gates from Key Arena two years prior when Jeff was nice enough to stop and sign some things for people (not me, autographs mean nothing to me) and take some photos, and then Matt at least stopped and waved....but Stone fucking sped out of there so fast that some of us were lucky to not get run over. Anyway.....I love him anyway and Stone, if you're reading, I forgive you but next time you'd better gimme some love.

He gave me "little love" or more like support when I met him.
I got very shy and felt a little stupid.
I asked him about Jack Irons birthday..and in the same breath, I reliazed..
"ooohh shit, I mentioned something about Pearl Jam"
I was showing him my tattoo on my right arm.
Funny thing was I pulled down my shirt from the neck cuz
I was wearing as very tight long-sleeved shirt.
He had to know that I wasn't wearing a bra cuz he had his face pretty close to my tat while his was examining it.
When I pulled up my sleeve again I caught him off guard and my knukle smacked his nose. And He pulled back, standing upright with big eyes and smiling while saying " I wouldn't know I'm not good with Birthdays, I'm lucky if I could remember my Mother's"

I stepped back and he stepped over to my right. I looked at him while biting my bottom lip. Then he smiled and tried to cheer me up by saying, " I saw you a couple of times dancing. You looked like you were having a good time, You were 'Rocking Out'!! "
I nodded and smiled back at him.

By the way 4 years ago when Stone sped away in his car.. He played a set with Brad and then played both sets with Pearl Jam.
So he was pretty exhausted, or felt like he was "about to expire"
As he put it one time during an interview...
Stone is crazy-nuts!! I doubt that he'd ever do that again, and I don't even think he was thinking when he decided to play both Key shows.

Yeah, you're right. I'm sure he was spent after being on stage for so long. Despite my complaints I've completely forgiven him and would love to meet him again. Part of my complaining stemmed from his seemingly bored nature during a lot of shows I've seen. After seeing him rockin' out and smiling and laughing at every show I saw this tour then I think it was either a misconception or he's just in a better place where he can have a lot more fun. And when Stone has fun, everyone has fun.

He is enjoying himself more and more, appartently he's happy in his personal life. You know, new wife and everything. He can't sing "Pigeon" anymore!

A volvo? That's a total Stone type of car. I can see him in one of those or maybe a suburu.

I could only picture Stone driving a volvo
Hey, back in Mother LoveBone it think he drove a suburu. It was brown. It's wasn't a big car... like the volvo stationwagon he still might have..unless he traded it in for a new one. Back in 1992 when everyone was buting cars or trucks and jeeps, he bought a wagon so he could put 10 of his friends in the backseat in the trunk

  • I read in a recent interview that Stone drives an old green biodiesel mercedes.

    Anyways, I digress.

I met the whole band in 2003 at the Chron's and Colitis Benefit Luncheon in Seattle. They were all incredibly nice and easy to approach and talk to. When I went to go meet Eddie he shook my hand and then told me he'd be right back as they had to go get a picture taken. Then he came back and I got an autograph on a ticket stub, as was the case for the rest of the band. I could go on and on about talking to each guy, but I won't, lol. It was nice to be able to approach them and talk with them. Everything that people have said about them being nice guys is true. I hope everyone gets a chance to meet them once and I hope I get to meet them again!

I met the whole band on 6-17-1995 after a cancelled show in Park City, UT. The show was cancelled due to a rainstorm. Everyone started down the hill to go home, but I was out of gas, so I stuck around until the crowd had died down. The rain had stopped by then, so I decided to try my luck getting backstage. There was no problem, and after a while of walking around, a security guard asked me what I was doing. I told him I was just looking around, and he told me to make sure I exited going downstairs (which was not the way I came in). As I was heading downstairs, the whole band was just hanging out down there in a little tent-canopy. They were all really nice, except for Eddie who seemed to be in a hurry to get on the bus. I think they were a little upset about having the show cancelled and the storm going away less than 15 minutes later.

On a side note, I think the real reason for cancelling the show was because several people decided to use the tarps covering the speakers (the ones that play to general admission) as umbrellas. Eventually the tarps were removed completely, and I saw more than one spark fly. I think some equipment was damaged, and I don't know if they would have been able to play even if they wanted to.
