Nothing original anymore in music, only so many riffs and chords for guitar. Happens all the time in rock music. I am a fan of Black Label Society and will purchase his new solo album.

  • dont get me wrong iwasatpj20 its an awesome album, im a fan too! Just seemed VERY VERY close to black. Pearl Jam did it with a Zeppelin song. As long as no one is suing, its all good haha

Yikes. That is way too close for comfort. I don't think this and GTF are comparable (as a huge LZ fan, I still don't even think they sound alike TBH! If they do, it feel like it's just a similarity at most). FTR, I think sometimes artists subconsciously steal songs. I doubt this guy did it on purpose, but still.... it's pretty obviously borrowing (to put it lightly) from Black. Not just a riff. The whole song. I'm surprised no one mentioned it to him before he put it on an album, lol.

That last little bit of the verse chord progression is really close, but they're different songs otherwise. Be curious to hear an amplified version as I don't think the b section has the same chords as Black. Then there's the 3rd riff in the BLS tune where Black basically rides out the chorus chords while Mike goes nuts.

Only so many riffs to use, its going to happen that some musicians will write a song and its already using something that 'unintentionally' sounds like a famous song. It is just happenstance in my mind.

But it's not just a riff that's the same. It's the whole damn song.

I love Wylde`s music, but this just struck me as odd.... He`s got a Black Sabbath cover band "Zakk Sabbath" I hope to see at a Louisville festival. Saw him with Ozz in 2001, he is 1 of the best guitarists I ever saw.

I wrote a song and thought "holy shit that sounds good". after playing it a dozen times, I thought "hmmm.....why does it sound familiar". well, it took me a while to finally figure it out, but it's the same as a Tea Party song.

my best riff ever and it's not mine. I was a tad deflated. LOL
